Let's bring comics back into the discussion with a little guessing game- of my finds today, one of these was a throw-in and one was $1.

ASM 365 was the throw-in, but I'm thinking now that the Iton Man was also thrown in. I was digging through his long boxes and overheard him say to another customer that he had a box he just bought outside (indoor/outdoor flea market) that he hadn't priced yet. I asked if I could take a look when he was done and the dealer said he actually had two boxes and I could look through the other one. I pulled ten or so books from those boxes. The other guy was a little green and missed all but an Avengers Annual 10. All total, I spent $285.

The flea market delivered today! The top three were all inside the same bag. Covers only, although Menace #1 has more than just its cover. So excited! The other two were also hidden at the bottom of a pile.

LCS had a special: fill a short box from their bargain area for $60. Or buy individual issues for $1 each. I didn't come close to filling a short box (thankfully), but I pulled a few interesting items for $1 each. That Azor is from 1965 and has a cool Marvel ad on the interior cover.

Fun picks. That From the Darkness is really early Jim Balent work, believe it or not.

Not a big collector of pre-war Lionel pieces, but when this 'O' gauge set came up for sale, I could not resist. Released in 1934, this 235e Set looks like it was just opened by some lucky kid at Christmas. Original paint, no touch ups, and the original boxes too! This version of the set contains:

  • 259E (Engine)
  • 261T (Tender)
  • 654 Oil Tanker
  • 653 Coal Car
  • 655 Box Car
  • 657 Caboose

None of those are great rarities, but condition looks fantastic, especially for the engine. Pre-war locos, especially in this shape and with the original box, are consistently in demand.

Those Dark Horse Thing books are certainly uncommon and in demand. Prices are kinda all over the place, either $1 bins or wall books, but they're great finds. I used to collect the Kolchak books as well, as a big fan of the show, but eventually lost track of them. Not something you see every day, for sure.

Estate Sale this AM.  First on-target sale in a while.  Also had an IH #181 (which the first guy in line bought for $4100) and a TOD #10 for $1400 which I passed on.  My original ASM #130 does not have an MVS, so that was a very welcome find.
