Visual guide to Mylar sizes

Thanks Slym, the 775s are indeed silver size. I was just looking around at boxes and realized I'd probably have to go with a magazine box. I'll have to get the smaller size bags/boards next time since I already have a ton of boxes.

From 1 page back ... (775s are 7 3/4" wide, hence the name)

Question, can a comic in a 800R Archive mylar fit into a long box or is it too wide?

No. An 800R Archive is 8" wide - regular long & shortboxes only have an interior width of 7 1/2".

You'll need to put the book in either a magazine box, a CGC box, or use one of the E Gerber acid-free boxes:

Don't you hate it when people ask questions they could easily find the answer too in the same thread? :tonofbricks:

Been too long without a bump to this thread.

Just got my shipment of 500 775s/750FBs today. . . I watched four episodes of Game of Thrones while I put everything together. Tomorrow night? I move the books over.

It is indirectly "stickied" in the Helpful Guide for Noobs thread. . . putting it as a sticky now would be redundant, though this is one of the most helpful threads I've come across here. I also have it on my Watched Threads list, so I have two methods to get to it.

Somone (I think it was Slym) mentioned how great the books look in mylar, and I concur. Some, of course, still look better than others just because of the covers. . . I have my Manhattan Projects, Saga, and Fatale books in Archives, and they look spectacular!

Great information, thanks. I've always struggled with the proper way to store the DC 100 Page giants and other squarebound books. What do you use for mylar sizes for these books? What about boards? Any advice would be appreciated.

Even though I present a lot of options in this guide, I actually only use three different sizes myself:

1) Mylites2 (Standard) 725M2 with either a 700FB Full-Back or a 700HB Half-Back. This is how the vast majority of my collection is protected.

2) Mylites (Standard) 725M with a 700HB Half-Back, which is then placed inside an Archive (Silver/Gold) 775R with a 750FB Full-Back. For higher-priced Moderns & Bronze.

3) Mylites2 (Gold) 800M2 with a 758 Half-Back or Full-Back, which is then placed inside an Archive (Super Gold) 825R with a 778FB Full-Back. For Silver and Gold.

If I were to do things over again, I'd probably get rid of option (2) entirely, and just do option (1) for moderns, and option (3) for everything else.

In regards to DC 100 Page giants & square-bound books in general, they fit in a Mylites2 (Silver/Gold) 775M2, but things get kinda tight if you use the correctly-sized 750 Full-Back. If you use a 750 Half-Back, the entire package seems too flimsy.

I put books like that in the option (3) combo above, but leave out the 778 FB Full-back in the Archive (so I only use one backing board total) - it looks like this:

NICE!

I plan on doing this as well :D

Here's a stupid question that sort of fits this thread, where do I find top loaders that fit Mylite 2's 725M2? I have magazine top loaders that make them look silly in there because there is so much space on either side of the comic but I bought a pack of the Hot Flips Top Loaders that say they are 7 1/2 inches wide yet it doesn't fit. Someone help!

So wheres best place (cheapest including shipping) to buy. I tried Hotflips, but it wont let me create an account for some reason. I sent them a PM here on boards, no answer yet. Also I saw the post about fixing their high shipping, but I need to talk to them to do that also. Any other comparable places?

Use the magazine top loaders for everything.
