I have some cheap SA Adventure's for sale on in the GA/SA/BA section:

You guys are making a big deal out of him crackin a book, that's what comics collectors do.....he collects comics, not plastic slabs!

 

I have over 200 CGC graded comics, about three are still in slabs.

 

 

Good man! I crack them all too - although I've done only a dozen or so.

My guess is that this was a result of changing demographics. In 1953 the first of the baby-boomers was seven. By 1959, however, there were teenaged boomers. DC was likely just trying to appeal to this changing audience.

 

Interesting analysis! For some reason I've never considered boomer age as one of the driving forces of Silver Age development.

 

The Silver Age was without a doubt all about baby boomers. And aging baby boomers have been the force behind the incredible escalation we've seen in Silver Age comic prices.

Good catch. That's cheap, but what about that expensive Adventure comic.

So do I. Chlorophyll Kid had the unique ability to make plants grow super fast and super big. A valuable skill if I do say so myself. He could land a position with Monsanto and put every competing fertilizer manufacturer out of business.

Can somebody tell me why there are only 7 Adventure 269 graded? First Aqualad?

I'd say it's because any Adventure comic from early in 1960 would be extremely tough to find in high enough grade to take the trouble to slab. Nor is Adventure 269 a really high dollar book.
