Took 6 months to find out he couldn't find it and I settled for a different book that I didn't want as much. I did get that but sold it at a loss because it reminded me of the awful transaction. Checking his ebay store at the time I noticed he had many duplicate listings of books so that if he sold one book the other listing would remain to become a problem down the road. Bob seems like a nice guy but I've never dealt with a more disorganized and confused person in my life. I wouldn't trust him to do my laundry. He came here asking for help and I believe quite a few guys did buy something to help him and afterwards and to this day he's bashed this site on facebook. He told me his beef with CGC goes back to an All-Star 8 he sent in and claims they popped the lower staple when they slabbed it. Then there's his beef with Steve C., and the guy who bought the pulps, etc., etc. In his mind he did nothing wrong in his transactions, so I don't think he will forgive and forget...but that's just my opinion. I deal with a lot of people and I see certain personalities who never forgive and forget ANYTHING. I also see a lot of people who are never WRONG in their minds. sacentaur Posted July 31, 2015 Share Posted July 31, 2015 I have been fortunate to speak with former BLB close associates like Rich Olson (our own Yellow Kid) and D ick Swan - plus Bud Plant and Bob Overstreet at SDCC earlier this month - and it is crystal clear that Beerbohm has worn out his welcome after decades of taking advantage of people and manipulating every situation; they simply have had enough. Rich, D ick, and Bud told me that they will no longer speak with BLB. Now another long-time BLB associate is Terry Stroud who last told me that he is indeed still in contact with Beerbohm... who owes him money. So when someone who doesn't know the true nature of BLB has doubts, please consider for a moment why he has been banned from various venues and discussion boards, why he is in the Hall of Shame, why his former close friends want absolutely nothing to do with him, and why others here speak out about his continuous misdeeds and shams. I guess Facebook has become his bloody pulpit and now his bunker, and I honestly could care less. The more that he rambles, the more that reasonable people will start to figure out the nature of the beast, and his house of cards will continue to crumble. Basically, it was an attempt by BLB to blackmail CGC. Borock bent over backwards to accommodate Beerbohm after an employee inadvertently left a tape pull on one of Jerry Bails' All-Stars. But that wasn't good enough for Beerbohm, who has to take advantage of every situation. The glue on the All-Star 8 was of BLB's own doing, as the before/after photo's clearly showed. CGC never popped a staple and then tried to re-glue it, what a crock. Let's not forget the infamous photo posted of Beerbohm's comic room with the tub of glue and a glue gun nearby. Maybe the next time he wants to talk about All-Stars, ask him if the Widow Bails has been paid a penny from the huge profits he reaped by selling her husband's (allegedly his best friend) books on ebay. No doubt he is waiting for the old woman to die so he can keep all the money for himself. I can't think of anything more shameful than that. You can continue to carry your torch for Bob but it just puts your own credibility and judgement into question. Look, I have explained my feelings on this. my judgement is sound. Bob has been at the forefront of comic book fandom and bought more collections than you can count...his clients George Lucas, Coppola, crumb( even part of the crumb movie was filmed there at his store), robin williams, danny glover ...the stories and adventures will all be lost when bob passes away. The importance of this man, the many contacts he made and interviews for the history of comic books...well priceless. When you have been in business for 40 years you are of course not gonna get it right all the time, and some are better than others . We are passing thru history...bob has passed thru 10 lifetimes worth. And now you want to bury this guy, put him in the hall of shame...well there should be a special at least 12 hours long of the history of comic book fandom which is gonna get lost here. nobody is perfect, not bob, me of you....I have made many mistakes that I would like to take back...but to act as though he is dead...banning him from the boards is an act of indecency. WE are the losers here...like "tears in rain"...lost forever...... But bob has had his whole world turned upside down in many different ways. His where house flood which cost 1 million comic books..that right 1M comic books and priceless art, including the unpublished Zap comics cover #1...are gone, the insurance company screwed bob by using a "underinsured clause" and put him into BK for 5 years...at the time he was ahead of every other dealer...today the loss would be 25 million, over 1000 pages of comic book art in 3 1/2 feet of water which came from the roof....you whole life ruined and kicked out of Pier 39 because of selling underground comic books..it goes on and on. Ok, my credibility is at stake...how about all of comic book fandom credibility and what we stand to lose. I have been trying to help bob resolve some the issues that he currently has...that is the best I can do for a guy whom I have know since I was 12. Is everybody gonna be happy...no...just do the best we can...I am afraid...my real friends are dropping like flies bruce hamilton falling out of a hospital bed after losing on a bad investment, John Barrett the nicest guy you ever had the choice to meet to cancer, Bob Sidebottom a pioneer who took no Shiiiii from anybody, Gary/SF comic book company who helped the underground comic movement and created one of the first stores in SF...I can go on and on.... Bob is trying to hang in there, imperfect as we all are, the only thing I am asking is bring him back and let you the reader decide what is true or not.
