I think you're right. Should have stocked up a couple years back. But I do see them gaining value long term.

There was a pre-sale of this for $39, but I will just put this up as a reference point in case anyone is wondering.

ASM #18 La Mole $365

 

I have been watching these variants of this Gen13 swipe go nuts, even the Gen13 #12 is selling now because of it.

 

Expect to see the ASM continue to rise, but the Red Sketch will be the easiest to obtain and prices will likely fall on that one. With the confirmation of only 500 copies on the Champions partial Color/Black&White being only 500 copies, that may be the big one of these 3.

 

But I am biased......

They have both just about passed the point where I will invest in them. Appreciation is different at $100 or more for me. The books have to have something really special to keep me interested past the price for unslabbed.

Seriously, though, I love both of these issues. Maybe my two favorite modern Bats storylines. The 655 Variant 9.8 prices dipped below $200 earlier this year and, even though I'm a firm believer in the keyness of 655 among Bat-books, I really didn't foresee this jump or I would've grabbed a backup copy.

Will it hold its value in the very long run? I say 656 will be the golden boy in many years to come.

 

Is 655 hot now? No doubt about it. Especially with all the pump.

 

See this is where you are late to the party. Initially 656 was getting more attention and sales, then once the market found out there was a VARIANT for 655, making it a desireable "more collectible than the regular cover" excuse, 656 fell in price and 655 a nd variant have continued to rise since.

 

656 has seen it's peak I'm afraid.

I wouldn't say I "missed the party" I love both 655 and 656.

 

I'm saying that a variant cover is not going to make this the long term investment.

 

1st full appearance is the long term.

 

Yes...for now it's 655 (because of the variant craze) I get it. Thanks ;)
