When will/will the WALKING DEAD bubble burst?

I would strongly suggest you take a course in reading comprehension. Where did I say anything about the ratings? I was referring to the story and it appears a lot of people and critics agree with me; starting with its downfall several years ago. If you like it you are welcome to disagree. When responding try to understand that not everyone has an agenda. I had high hopes for this season, but sadly I no longer watch. I can say the same about this season of American Horror Story. Would you like to attack me on that subject as well?

Interesting hm

It is funny you say critics are turning on the show. I've actually been surprised by all the praise the show has received lately. Right now Metacritic has it at an 80:

http://www.metacritic.com/tv/the-walking-dead/season-5

Entertainment Weekly says best season so far:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/11/11/walking-dead-best-season-ever/

Vox.com (never heard of them) had this to say:

"I can't believe I'm writing this, but The Walking Dead is one of the best shows of 2014"

http://www.vox.com/2014/12/1/7314439/walking-dead-finale

This reviewer even mentions he disliked season 4 but now is enjoying season 5:

"In contrast to his predecessors, Scott M. Gimple, the showrunner since Season 4, is getting nothing but praise. And deservedly so. I stand by everything I wrote a few weeks back: The Walking Dead has been shockingly good so far this year."

http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/walking-dead-2014-midseason-finale-recap/

Most of the reviews I'm reading of the season are praising the success of the show. It is curious that your review choices were more from the niche market that would probably include more comic fans than the ones I linked.

Personally, I feel the show has huge peaks and valleys. I hate the way they split the show off and tell other stories. I'm truly only interested in Rick and I feel the split focus just doesn't work. It was what drove me crazy about last season.

However, I think a lot of my criticism of the show is because of my love for the book. Talking to none comic readers, they love it! My wife loves the show. I have coworkers that love the show. Clearly from the ratings, people love the show.

I'm not sure I'd say it is losing steam by any stretch of the imagination.

Also, most of those who criticized the first part of this season are now singing the praises of recent episode's, particularly last week's mid-season finale.

The show's stronger than ever, even if the comic hype has died.

Also, GPA shows an increase in the 90 day values in every grade, 9.2-9.9.

The only reason it doesn't show increases in 7.0-9.0 as well is the lack of sales in those grades during that time period.

Not a coincidence -- after prices fell throughout the year, the show returned in October and prices (across the board) began rising again.

Wow, I would say the bubble is leaking, if I wasn't looking for a Black Label I would of been all over this, what a price...

...and it's been relisted.

I love the shill on this one. Highest bidder places one bid in 30 days on this one item. lol

So its losing steam, but gaining viewers. Interesting.

Sounds like it's hit a resurgence - I couldn't get past the second season, but that's just me - I'm more of a scifi guy anyways. But, it looks like they've got the spinoff thing planned out at a perfect time and lots of people still buzzing about the show. Good for them - I'm actually just happy that a comic-based show does so well, because it's one of the many things that keeps comics in the mainstream - which translates into show fans eventually walking into a comic store. That's always good for business.

Reviews are a dime a dozen nowadays. Especially online. And when talking about the success or failure of a show it's the ratings that matter, not the "critics". Ask any film studio if they'd rather have a badly reviewed billion dollar film release or a critics darling that cost more than it grossed.

And even winning a Best Picture Oscar doesn't make up the difference anymore.

Just my opinion. Season 5 was waaaay better than the previous two. Just saw the last episode last night. Amazing.

Not to suggest that it's not possible, but Its more difficult for me to envision this mass WD hysteria gone tomorrow than not.

100% agree. I think it's the best season so far.

My wife, who by the way is not one to get hooked on shows. My daughter and I have told her about this show from day one,she hemmed and hawed it until my daughter played her a DVD from the first season. Now she's hooked, she had to watch the entire 4 seasons before this seasons shows started to catch up.We have had (every Sunday) walking dead "family night" where we all watch the show together. Then(I'm not supposed to know) she buys me a Walking Dead #1 for my birthday, which by the way She spent 1300.00 on (and that floors me) because she NEVER spends that kind of money on anything, let alone a comic book. (shrug)

I'm thinking my hard to impress wife is a fan!

You don't like this season of American Horror Story?! :sorry:

I guess I disagree with the "critics" then that the Walking Dead is losing steam. I feel like I hear of more and more people checking it out that wouldn't have before. The Season Premiere beat out Sunday Night Football in viewers. What's great is I think the best is yet to come. :headbang: For everyone that complains about TWD TV Show, I don't know what they expect to see. Is it they're just not horror fans? Or maybe the opposite is true and they are over the top horror fans and want to see gore and guts every week? (shrug)

It's a story of survival in a world after the Zombie Apocalypse. It's everything that I had expected and hoped for and I enjoy it every week.

***American Horror Story Spoiler Alert!***

I find American Horror Story completely disgusting this season. The first three seasons were great. This season it is almost like the producers went out of their way to offend me in every manner possible.

The scene were Jessica Lange's character loses her legs made me lose all faith in humanity. If that wasn't enough I was later 'treated" (sarcasm implied) to watching a father mutilate his daughter all because he didn't like her choice in men.

I am all for horror just like the next guy (the Saw movies are some of my favorites), but I shouldn't feel like I need a shower after watching a show because the producers think that I want watch the most horrid acts against humanity done each and every week.

As such I can no longer approve of the show...at least for this season.

Judging by the critics I am not alone.

Because we were talking about the bubble popping on the book in terms of money. Then you made a comment about how the show was dropping off and it seemed like you were talking about it in terms of money.

My mistake but you made an odd transition.

I'd also add, a large majority of reviews I looked it in rebuttal to your post were positive. Ratings are also up significantly.
