I will never see another Stars Wars movie again. I am 45 years old so I saw the original movie from 1977 many times at the theatre. There was never anything like it on the big screen. Then when Empire Strikes Back came out we were in awe of the special effects. I can still remember seeing the Imperial Walkers and sitting there with my eyes glued to the big screen. The story took a big turn and had a bunch of unforeseen surprises. Then Return of the Jedi came out and it was a bit of a let down. There were cool effects and you got the good guy always wins ending but it just didn't seem to wow you like the others. Maybe the ewoks killed it. Launch to Episode 1. WTF is this ? Jar Jar? Really? 1st half the movie put me to sleep. Take away the Darth Maul fight at the end and you have a movie with nothing to offer a fan of so many years. I never bothered to see Episode 2 and waited for Episode 3 to come out on CD.

I don't care what the story is about. Any movie you add to the originals will fail because what we all loved about Star Wars in the beginning vanished a long long time ago.

Can we just sum up your post thusly:

YOU DAMN KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN!

:yeahok:

We get it, things were just better when you were a kid. And you had to walk uphill both ways in a foot of snow. And people respected their elders. And porn stars looked like they had Buckwheat in a headlock. And cars got 8mpg and broke down before 75k miles...

I agree. I'm also brand loyal, and curious about the future. I hope they are able to bottle lightning for a new generation--but it's a new age, and many things are different. We'll see.

As Arex says, things had more of an impression on us as kids. So it will be for the next wave.

Any Star Wars movie, done right, will be wonderful. Just like most movies.

And if you love Star Wars, which I do, then you owe it to yourself to read the many many novels out. Talk about expanding on the movies :cloud9:

And watch out if they do the Thrawn Trilogy :wishluck:

A great villain, a couple of great story lines, and huge intrigue and space battles, :cloud9:

Rumors are heating up concerning Disney's possible acquisition of Hasbro. MTV News reported in on their website along with a few other places. Couple of OpEd pieces out there saying that Disney would be wise to take the toy giant into it's folde despite the stock being down 2%.

I am interested either way.

Actually you didn't get it. I wasn't saying things were better back then. I was saying it was a big milestone for cinema. It was the 1st time anyone got to see "great" special effects on a big screen. It was also the 1st time a sequel was actually worth seeing. You totally missed my point. Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200.

I watched the first Star Wars three times at the theater the first week it came out. It was so groundbreaking that it CHANGED me. It was the first time that I realized that some things are worth believing in. GOD BLESS....

Lucas created a wonderful universe of characters, but he's a poor screenwriter. Empire is the best SW film because Lawrence Kasdan wrote it. Lucas made a huge mistake writing episodes 1-3 himself. I look forward to episodes 7-9 because quality writers will hold the reigns.

Agreed.

Jimbo might be my favorite boardie.

This is a great time to be a Star Wars fan. I was there in the early years. They shaped my childhood. I think the future looks great! Onward!

I.... um...

I really enjoyed Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

I rank it either as the second or third best.

It was very good, maybe third or fourth. I don't think we're allowed to think that anything is better than New Hope or Empire. ;)

I thought that little moment when Anakin and Obi-Wan are talking, before Obi takes off for Utapau or wherever he was going, was very well done. It was actually kinda sad, in a franchise that's not known for its emotional moments. And it's even better after the first viewing, when you're aware that it's the last time they'll talk before Annie goes all Dark Side.

They also did a good job of showing Anakin getting lost with no one to turn to. It was unsettling.

Second best. I'd fine with people calling it third best by giving Episode IV the nod for being innovative.

Loved it. The scenes where he killed the sandpeople, fought and lost to Dooku then later killed him, expressed his preference to Padme for a strong leader controlling the Senate, and all of the scenes where Palpatine manipulated him into believing the Jedi were twisted were fantastic. The fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan was the second-best of all the films aside from Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan...the Anakin battle was far more epic, but nobody in the films can out-maneuver the expert martial arts moves of Ray Park portraying Darth Maul. Palpatine's entirely evil grin when he put the coup de grace on his manipulation by telling Anakin he had killed Padme had me gripped. The scene where the Vader helmet locked closed on Anakin's ravaged body was sublime. :cloud9:

I still haven't watched Episode 3 in it's entirety. It was actually on last night on some channel and I did turn to it to check it out. It was the scene where Sam Jackson was fighting the Emperor. It looked hokey to me.

Episode 1 was a huge letdown. Darth Maul was cool, and that was about it.

Not sure if I've even seen all of Episode 2 either. The Yoda fight scene was pretty good though.

I love the original trilogy, as dated as they are. Great stuff when I was a kid. I was in 3rd grade when ROTJ came out. I thought the Ewoks were cool.
