i offer the friendly wager that I get it CGC'ed and he pays the processing and if I dont I will gladly paypal the same to him (thumbs u

wouldn't that be more entertaining than just showing the book gallery online...

worse case scenario is i'm wrong and Joe makes $40 :acclaim:

Everyone wants it to be fake, but deep down dont you really want it to be real and see me get a free CGC'ed embossed Man of Steel #1?

No, entertaining would be you posting a link to the book gallery.

Why would I ever trust you with $40? :screwy:

Sorry to hear your dad is battling cancer. One question though. You posted this just about 2 months ago.

and again a big shout to MsSmidt for dogging my Superman #233 CGC 4.5

My dad bought it for me in 1982 and its symbolizes the son father bond we had now that he died from exposure to Agent orange in Vietnam serving our country :sorry:

I thought your dad was dead? ???

You lied about your father being DEAD to make a stranger on the internet feel bad...?

Really...?

Not to mention he edited that last post. lol

Yeah, I'm going to send $40 to a guy who is either a compulsive liar, or an out-and-out scam artist. :eyeroll:

He's generalizing. The numbers ARE down, but there are still readers. In fact, there's probably been a slight upswing in readers with all the movie and TV exposure. There's a core of female readers that I don't think existed ten years ago.

This being the CGC forum, though, there's probably some skew towards graded book collectors.

Add in the cosplay female fans, and cons are definitely much more enjoyable to set up at than they were 10 years ago....... lol

Hellblazer 1 is on the way up, both raw and slabbed. 9.8 just sold for over 140.

Obviously this book won't be seeing the same kind of attention as Swamp Thing 37, but its a book to watch.

Invincible #110 @ $11. Issue deals with rape from what I've been told.

Alpha Flight #17 @ $12 & 6 bids although I don't know exactly why.

Invincible #110 does have a rape scene in it where Grayson is raped by a woman (not Eve).

Alpha Flight V2 #17 is heating up because of an upcoming Disney film about Big Hero 6 (1st appearance was in this comic).

No mention of Epic Illustrated #3 yet in this thread... it is heating up.

This book has the most potential based on speculation. Most people haven't figured it out yet.

If done right, Dreadstar could be the next great fantasy genre movie.

Manifest Destiny #2 @ $15 @ 5 bids. And issue #3 is at around $10. The series is just smoking hot.

Captain America #14 @ $14 and rising. I've seen copies sell for $20+. Not quite CA #6 level of hot but pretty dang close.

I think you're in the wrong section.

If I recall this fiasco correctly, the "embossed Man of Steel 1" was confirmed to be a foreign edition, German I think, of a different comic (not the John Byrne Man of Steel series). At that point everyone lost interest. It's just too hard to try to keep up with foreign editions unless that's your niche. I haven't seen a photo of this particular book in a slab though, so your question stands.

Pics or it never happened.

What's the big deal with that? The only thing I can think of is "early Dreadstar" or "First Full Dreadstar" but wouldn't Epic 1-2 be better options since EI 1/2 are officially noted online as the first app of Dreadstar?

My vote is for Epic 1. That I have half a magazine box of these has absolutely no bearing on my analysis.

I just read through them all, E1 is the first appearance of the Sword, E2 is only a head shot of Dreadstar ( I would take this as the first but the market disagrees ) and E3 is the first Full or first appearance depending on your definition of first appearance.

+1

I have 9 copies of Epic Illustrated #1 but only 1 copy of #3. And 6 of the 9 #1 copies still have the Stan Lee letter/questionaire with it.

Epic #1 is the 1st appearance of his sword, #2 is 1st Vance

and Epic #3 is when Vance becomes Dreadstar when he and the sword combine.
