CELEBRATE THE DOUBLE COVERS

That unique comics seller is really ramping it up. Over 35 double to octuple covered books up for auction right now and uploading more every day. If we didn't already know they were making them themselves, if I was a potential bidder it would beg the question: Where are they getting them all from?

Answer:

If I was the local dealer they're buying from I would wonder why they were buying so many multiples out of their dollar bin.

They have 11 feedback. However, only 4 different buyers have left positives on the multi-covered books and most are from the same buyer ID. So about 36% of the happy buyers have bought a multi-covered book from them even though a vast majority of what they've sold have been the fake multi-covered books. My theory is they are playing dumb with anyone who complains and taking care of them with an immediate refund, "just keep the book(s)" and giving them no reason to leave bad feedback. They've been lucky so far...how long before their luck runs out?

Looks like their payment didn't go through because it got reposted. And of course, I didn't miss out this time.

Beat to the punch again.  I purchased Saturday night 8:41 so guess MCS didn’t pull their listing from eBay when you purchased it from their web site. The good news is this frees up $120 toward a uniquecomics octuple cover book! 😂😂😂

To MCS’s credit, they’re normally super quick pulling books from the bay once they’re sold on the site and vice versa… but it sometimes takes a little while for the computers to communicate. But I’ve watched to see how long it takes a few times I’ve seen a bay listing and went to MCS for the lower price, and it’s normally within 10-15 minutes.

I saw trademarkcomics post after the fact so I knew the cancellation was forthcoming.  I  put MCS at the top for quality and service.  They were my first back issue purchase way back in the late 70’s from a lone star comics mail order catalog.

Easily my favorite mail order comic source.  But I almost always risk the few minutes jumping from the bay to their site to save the money.  I think the last time I didn’t risk the five minutes was when I grabbed Venus #9 and #16 for around $130.  Totally worth the bay premium under the circumstances

I nearly broke my index finger going through the payment process. I knew it would go fast. The funny thing is it took nearly 2 hours to "sell" the first time. That made it even worse that I missed it. And Lone Star is my go-to comic dealer these days. I just re-read the ASM Omnibus and Buddy Saunders has like 3 letters printed in the first few issues of the series...including the very first issue. He's the man

I'm surprised @trademarkcomics imo or tmk your the 1st person that has gone for "double covers" and "raw at that" on "purpose." I've personally always found them in the wild, supposing that gives some kind of provenance in order to determine if "real etc." Otherwise I buy graded, I envy your knowledge a bit, I'll at least be looking to see if there are learning opportunities! Kudos, and I'm glad you collect what you love!

I have the confidence that I can tell a real one from a fake one. I feel VERY strongly that these error copies are vastly undervalued so all of these are investments for me. When rarity starts to catch up to condition, I will be a very happy man. Besides, I would rather pay a little more for a copy I want in a double cover than find one in a book I simply don't care much about. I also don't buy collections. I've been doing this for 25+ years just finding good deals on books I want to collect or sell. Most of the books I sell in our shop on eBay are extras after I upgrade the copy I have. I have friends who buy collections and one of my friends owns the local comic shop and when I look at all the thousands of worthless books in their garage/stock room, I know I could never do that. Besides, my wife would tan my hide if I brought even one box of comics home. Our house is a warehouse as it is...

Still impressive!

So, I just bought my first Marvel Team-Up double(I had Amazing, Spectacular and Spidey Super Stories so now I have all of his first four series with doubles), and was wondering how rare this is:

A double cover with an arrival date stamp:

I would think it would be against nearly all odds that a comic with an error would not only slip through unnoticed and then get shipped on top of a stack of books sent to the newsstand! hm

That's the first I've ever heard it suggested that only the top book on the stack would get stacked, though.  I always thought they would stamp every book in the batch, so they knew when to pull them off the shelves.

Still an awesome book, and I love date stamps when they're well placed, which this one is.
