Aquaman is definitely throwing off that Poseidon vibe and it's hella cool.

Here's What 'Aquaman' Gets Up To In BATMAN v SUPERMAN

Badass Digest have a piece up looking at the possible meaning behind that "Unite The Seven" tag on the Aquaman character image released by Zack Snyder last night (the popular theories are that it either refers to the seven members of the Justice League or the Seven Seas), but they also drop some interesting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice details. In the shooting -script they claim to have seen, Aquaman has only a very small role, making it all the more surpising that an official look at the character would be released over a year before the release of the movie itself.

 

The site reveals that "Aquaman is barely even present, showing up only in a survey of metahumans by Lex Luthor and then again at the very ending, when Batman recruits him for the Justice League."

The Tattoos and Armor Design

 

Over at Screen Rant, they've got a look at the historical and cultural significance of the tattoos and the "scales' on his armor designs.

 

The basics?

 

Those tattoos on his hands likely are the mouths of Tiki gods, indicating Arthur's role as a provider for his people.

 

The shoulders -- both his tattoos and the armor design, feature stylized spearhead imagery common to Polynesian culture. Elsewhere on his torso and wrists, there's similar recurring shark's teeth imagery. In both cases, it ties to previous remarks by the actor that they hoped to make Aquaman an embodiment of island culture.

yeah i think this aquaman is going to be big outside comic book audience. most are going to think samoan or island tribs plus it give of a poseidon feel to it.

Jessica Cruz, in addition to providing some new ethnic diversity as a character of Latino decent, would also provide the movie League an extra dose of estrogen. This would add a few extra character dynamics for Dawn of Justice and likely Justice League screenwriter Chris Terrio to play with, and could also potentially help the movie’s appeal across those all-important “all-four quadrants.”
