Hello everyone, [hi]

I'm Brian and I'm new to the boards, but not to collecting comics. I've enjoyed reading these threads over the last few weeks and I'd like to join in on some of the conversations. I've met a few bordies already and you all seem like a great group of guys.

I wanted to share with you my "Wall of Fame" in my comic room. I built this myself. It displays 30 books and has accent lighting above the books. I've filled it with some of my L. B. Cole collection. Here's a few pix:

Holy guacamole! What a friggin awesome set of comics! I'm speechless :cloud9:

As for the display itself, what a beautiful piece of work! I think you may have just come up with a great side business for high end collectors. Not that I could afford such an awesome display...but me wants it VERY BADLY!

My humble stand

Yeah, but that's a nice pair to start with Adam! ;)

Hey guys - a friend of mine who is on the Alter Ego mailing list sent this to me so I thought I'd post it here. Here's a call for help from Roy Thomas:

Hope you will indulge yet another plea for help... perhaps repeating one

I made a bit earlier. ALTER EGO #117 will focus on artist/editor L.B.

Cole and his colleague, artist Jay Disbrow. Main features will be an

article by Jay about Cole... followed by an interview with Disbrow

himself. I collected a fair number of Cole covers before... and he was

more famous for covers than anything else... but many of them were in

black-&-white and now that AE has gone to full color, I'd love to get

decent scans of a number of covers in color. Or at least suggestions as

to which issues would be especially good to pick up from the GCD. I'm

going to be limited as to time for the next few months, as I simply have

to spend more time on the Taschen book on Stan Lee I've mentioned here

before... so if someone can arrange to send me a CD with a lot of covers

on it, I'll be happy to trade a copy of the issue for it, along with my

sincere thanks.

Naturally, I'd also like interior art by both Cole and Disbrow... and

knowledge of any covers by Jay, if such exist.

I do have that 3-D jungle comic Ray Zone put together back in the 80s of

a Cole/Disbrow 1950s effort... and a number of you have sent me material

over the past few months. No need to re-send any of that. But I could

use some things such as:

By L.B. Cole: Centaur fillers... Magno for Ace... Black Cobra or Capt.

flight or funny animals for Farrell... Black Venus or Warhawk from

Aviation Press... MIss Victory or Satan for Holyoke... work for

Narrative, Rural Home, Newsbook, ACG (early 50s), Magazine Enterprises.

I know many of you guys have much nicer copies than I do (and scanners) so I thought maybe some of you would be willing to help Roy out. Or, at least pre-order AE #117!

That's one gorgeous book! It blows away all the previous copies I've seen of that issue.

It's been a while since I grabbed any LB Cole books, so I picked up this one last night:

No that's not a Cole cover, but he did interiors! Plus that is a killer cover. I also always liked MANHUNT #4 and hope to get one of them someday. I already have a #7.

I also grabbed this one off the sales boards:

Nice headlights. ;) It was an elusive one for me that I needed to fill in a hole in the BB run.
