Paul Rudd is Ant-Man
1 1

I really enjoyed it. Rudd and Douglas are both excellent in this, and I wish the Hank Pym of the comics was more like the film version.

The special effects in the opening flashback scene with Douglas are absolutely amazing, and could have a major impact regarding the types of roles older actors could play in the future. I'm sure it's cost prohibitive right now, but we've come a long way since Benjamin Button and Tron: Legacy.

I never imagined that watching Ant-Man use his powers on screen would be that entertaining. Ant-Man fight scenes are as fun as a Hulk vs. Thor battle. Probably more so, to be honest.

This film also features the greatest Baskin Robbins scene in the history of cinema. I've dealt with customers like that before.

Saw it last night - it definitely wasn't my favourite, but I think that's just because it took my by surprise how new it was. It had the perfect combination of a Paul Rudd comedy which briefly brushed up against the world of the Avengers.

It was a fun ride with a focus on the irredeemable Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who is has a load of baggage upon his shoulders after a failed attempt at being Robin Hood. His backstory and motley crew are a perfect compliment to Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) scripted and sculptured actions that have been carefully structured and play a naive Scott Lang to do his bidding.

The story line is somewhat predictable and is plain in every trailer we saw. There's a bad guy with bad intentions that Ant-Man needs to vanquish. That's not the crux of the movie, though. How the new Ant-Man intertwines with the Marvel universe is the real story. The old Ant-Man's adventures with the Wasp are explored briefly and provide a solid backup story for the existence of the technology, while the cunning of a thief whose education level is high is perfectly suited to take his place on the Avengers lineup.

This movie will make you laugh as much as it will make you sit at the edge of your seat in the action scenes. The future is bright for this Marvel character, although his humor will rival that of Star Lord and I believe there will ultimately be room for only one.

My verdict is, as most Marvel movies, go see it.

It may not be the huge summer blockbuster, it does establish the likeable character we want to see and it provides a much lighter and enjoyable movie-going experience than the super-hero overload of Avenger: Age of Ultron - I needed super-hero insulin after that movie.

I was going to go see this alone while my fiancee' went to see Trainwreck, but she was pretty adamant that she really wants to see Ant Man. Surprised the hell out of me. I think GOTG is the gateway movie that made her want to see future Marvel movies.

GOTG was brilliant in that regard.

It removed the 'comic geek stigma' from movies that Iron Man started to do and it opened the door to a whole new audience that never would have stepped into a theater to see a Marvel movie.

I think we are looking at the forming and cementing of what could potentially be one of the largest corporations of our time. They're literally producing billion dollar movie after billion dollar movie with nothing but gravy in sight.

It's pretty amazing to be at the forefront of it and see it unfold.

Wifey needs new shoes? lol

lol

I'll have you know that she is well stocked!

Oh dear, so is mine.

Just got her another pair in New Orleans.

If you are EVER in NOLA you have to see the Italy Direct Clothing store on Tchoupitoulas. It's pretty amazing. She gets something every time she goes down.

I was there a couple of months ago just in time for the weeklong St. Patrick's day festivities. I'll look that place up next time we're there.

Every time someone mentions GOTG as the new watermark for greatness I feel like I'm in a parallel Universe.

No one yet?

Okay, I'll post it.

Don't hold yer breath.

We just got back from seeing the movie, I enjoyed it a lot, my husband actually stayed awake which is high praise from him for a Super-Hero movie;)

The only problem was, I was expecting crowds and there were only about 15 people in the theater. It was a rainy afternoon and I'm in a tourist area, so I was surprised.

They also showed an FF trailer that was 10 times better than any of the others I've seen...so there might be hope yet. :wishluck:

Surely I'm not the only person who thinks that BB is over-rated?
