Wow, your Uncle gave you almost every Marvel key. Pretty nice guy. hm

I got a subscription to Ranger Rick from my uncle in the early 80's, and that's about it.

Right! I smell some deep horse do do with this guy.

His uncle bought these books off the stands.....saves them for 50 plus years....and has no attachment to them and gives them away? RIGHT!!! zzz

Extremely lucky of me! (and my sister...) He collected keys and a FF run from 1 to 117 and not much more. Yes, DC keys are included!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Lucky is an understatement... If only we all had your uncle's prescience at the newsstand... "to key or not to key".

Looks like he did buy some of the origins from other collectors back in the day. Anyway, here it is in his own words-

Party House Liquor

http://abc7.com/…/redondo-beach-liquor-store-owner-…/464970/

"Oh, it has come to this! I don't think I've ever bought liquor there, but for many years Party House Liquor was a big part of my little P.V. World! I think it was 1963 and I was in the fourth grade attending Valmonte Elemetary School when I became addicted. A kid in my class, Neil R., helped turned my passing fancy into an obsession that sucked every penny out of the coin jar I kept on my dresser. I got my first taste of them a few years before in the game room at the P.V. Pool, while other kids were playing caroms. But, I blame Neil for getting me hooked, although I guess ultimately, I was very willing. At recess one day, Neil started talking about Fantastic Four and Spider-Man. Up until this point, I had only read D.C. Comics like Superman, Flash, and Green Lantern. But Neil tried to convince me that Marvel Comics were much better and more life-like! As if stories about a stretching man and an invisible girl were life-like? Also, Neil convinced me that I should start collecting the comics, because they would gain value over the years. So, under his Svengali influence I began buying and collecting like a madman. Each month when the new issues would come out, I would get on my Sting Ray bike and ride from my La Selva neighborhood, down through Torrance, and into the Riviera Village to buy the next issue of Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, X-Men, among others at Party House Liquor. Also, there were ads in the back of the comics where people were selling older, more valuable "origin" issues, and I bought what I could afford with my allowance from people in exotic places like New Jersey. This went on until my sophomore year at PV High, when I began to lose interest. I stored all the issues away in a box, which I only recently opened and gave to my niece and nephew, so they might be able to sell them.

In High School, hormones were raging and my desire for comics was fading. One day, my next door neighbor, Rob, and I decided to go down to Party House Liquor and try to buy a Playboy Magazine. He wanted the magazine for the obvious reasons, and I was clandestinely hoping there were some sexy male pics too, as they sometimes had couples posing for the prurient pictures. I was only fifteen, but I was a pretty big and mature looking for my age. So, we decided I would be the one to walk to the register and buy the magazine. I felt nervous and flushed, but I gathered my courage and walked over. I tried to make my voice sound deeper and older and asked to buy the Playboy. No problem! The cashier just took my money and handed me the magazine! "Let's get the Hell Outta here!" I whispered to Rob. Mission accomplished!

So, I must say I'm sad that Party House has closed, and under such sordid conditions. I took some photos today when I was riding my bike through the Riviera Village."

Wow Rich, congrats!!! It's a 100k book now.

Risky but well worth it. Did you press it?

It's was a high dollar expensive upgrade. I always felt your copy was worth that much a few years ago. ;)

All I can say is... (worship)
