If it was one or two minor things about the debacle, it wouldn't be so displeasing - but the way it's all come together makes for very poor taste. They made their choices to handle things how they did.

When another "opportunity" like this comes along from JTC (which I'm guessing it will) will either side have learned a lesson?

Just curious, outside of the downgraded shipping, what other problems have there been? (shrug) I know there was some confusion about orders being canceled, but as far as I know those were all cleared up in favor of the buyer.

Yea mine were shipped UPS and the shipping price was on the label, it came around $16.50
'

And you were only charged $8.50? If so, guess he is picking up some slack with our monies.

Nothing on you, BTW. Just making a statement.

Sorry I should have clarified, I had 2 orders so each were 8.50 for a total of $17.00. By the way, the bottom of the box had no padding for a stack of books and some packing materials on the top to fill the space. Each book just floating in the box.

I kinda feel it's in bad taste that there is so much complaining about the shipping methods of the artist who created this sought after cover. People are going to be selling on his work for a profit, a lot more than he sold them for. Maybe give the guy a break, he's new to selling comics, and this particular comic wouldnt exist without his hard work and talent in the first place.

He made plenty of money off the sales. It's not like he is being exploited.

It's against US Postal rules to send comics via Media Mail.

Media Mail Packages may not contain advertising

With the amount he's selling/shipping, they may open them up and investigate which will cause him headaches as it may delay shipping, or cost the end user(Buyer) even more once it arrives at your door.

We will find out in a week. I'm going to on site a stack on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm sure Lonzilla and a bunch of people in here are doing the same.

Getting there a day early? lol You mean Thurs or Fri

I'll be there with my "stack" of 2 copies if they arrive in time

I'm pretty sure last year they were accepting submissions on Wednesday from whoever had a dealer pass. I know for sure they were accepting submissions Thursday morning. Two years ago they finished a lot by end of the show on Thursday because BeachBum had a stack of TWD #1 variant, but I don't remember them bringing anything out last year.

I know the show doesn't start until Thursday afternoon.

A few reasons - almost entirely based on meeting him,

I met him at C2E2, but never planned on buying a copy of the book there as I already had 2 ordered. He didn't even seem like he wanted to be there, and this was early on Friday.

At least when I was there, his booth consisted of a lone copy of the Fett variant on a stand, no price displayed, and 2 "handlers" behind his booth only to say "$60… It's $80 on ebay". It was the weirdest creator meet I've ever had. He seemed pleasant enough if I wasn't buying something from him - but some people you just get an insincere vibe that rubs you the wrong way… that's what I got and it's not something that's super easy to describe I suppose.

Semi-related weird side note: his signature (which it's his right to sign however he damn well pleases) looks literally like this: ~~----------. Zero exaggeration there.

Had I not met him in person, I probably wouldn't have as much bias… but I have yet to hear from someone who met him that felt he was genuine.

Exactly. I do it occasionally, and worry every time. I would never send out hundreds of packages at one time via Media Mail. That's almost asking for at least some to be flagged & inspected. Add in the fact that I & others paid enough for these books to be sent via Priority, & well... here we are.

I've never done on site grading, is there a premium associated with grading fees to do so? Roughly how much per single auto book to grade on site?

Moderns 1975-up are $25

Sig series are $36 plus the artist's fee and whatever extra an artist may charge, like Liefeld tacks on $20+, because you're slabbing the book

You guys know it's legal for comics that only advertise stuff owned by the publisher, so any adds for Super Hero Stuff, conventions, other books are counted as content.

But put an Crown Royal or Tobacco Add in Captain Marvel, and everyone would lose their minds.

I had to post up about JTC and my Boba Fett order.

I received a cancelled email just like the original person last saturday afternoon around 1:30pm or so. And just like the other person that posted, I also told his wife that I bought and paid for my 10 books on the 9th, not the 10th that her time stamp showed. After forwarding her the paypal receipt, she apologized within 2 hours, and said that she would in fact ship out my comics. I was happy about that to say the least.

Unfortunately, as of this moment, my order on JTC's site still says : Order #31** was placed on April 10, 2015 and is currently Refunded. I emailed her this past monday and yesterday, and have NOT received a reply yet. I checked my paypal, and no refund either. Obviously I would prefer my books, but to not even reply to your customer's email is a big no-no.

I'm going to chime in and give my opinion on him selling these comics. Awesome idea, and awesome for the actual artist to get paid for a great idea.

But.............the big problem to me is the actual shipping part. Let's say he only sold 1,000 comics as he said he thought he originally would. Let me even go as far as 300 people bought 2 copies each, 10 people bought 10 each, 10 people bought 20 each, and 4 people bought 25 each. Boom!!! That's 324 packages to ship out. That's a lot of boxes, and a lot of info to keep track of. Multiply that times 4 almost and jeez, no wonder there's all these issues.

Communication is so important when you sell online. You wanted to sell something online to make extra money, cool, now be responsible and take care of the communications at least. You can't have people waiting days or weeks without a simple reply.

He knew what was sold weeks ago, why not have everything already packaged up and ready to ship. I guarantee everybody that it would've been a lot smoother than the shipping disaster he's going thru now. When he posted that picture of all those boxes in his room, maybe he thought it was cool, personally I thought it was embarassing. How can you sell this many comics in advance and not be even partially ready??? He knew what was sold people!!!

To me the biggest issue was why wasn't he prepared when he knew what was sold. Instead, he got greedy, and was more concerned with selling them for 60- instead of worrying about his customers that already paid him weeks earlier for something that half of us don't even know if we'll get at this point.

Thank you for reading my rant, and good luck to all of us, I honestly am still holding hope that we'll get our comics. Preferably this year.

I bought 3 on April 8th, emailed twice (no response), and received nothing but ....processing.....

oh and sending this type of potentially high dollar product out media mail is moronic.

Yeah, we can look forward to him doing THIS again. Some of us sure like to have a reason, made-up will do, to pile on criticism. Mr. Christopher, thanks for your efforts, and if you need to cut some orders, get some names off of the last 2 or 3 pages. Thanks!

While they can certainly do what they want, I can also feel the way I want about it - & I think that's some pure wildly_fanciful_statement right there.

Yeah, this is all "made-up criticism."

:eyeroll:

Like I said before, but let's take it further - if you bought a comic from me here, and I charged you $7 and said it was going to be sent Priority and you received your book 2 weeks later because I actually sent it Media, you'd be pissed, and rightfully so.

:)
