Detective 168 5.5 Blue No Reserve Auction

107 posts in this topic

Good luck with the sale. This looks to be the first open auction for a Tec 168 in unrestored mid grade in quite some time. It will be very interesting how much higher it will go from the already high price it's at now. (Compared to those very few sales that it has had)

I was always pleased to pick this up for the JOKER story a couple of months after it came out as I was unable to locate it on the newsstand.

Big book you got there, Marty. :)

Thank you! Have contemplated on having it graded and certified as a means of

preservation.

Wow! just WOW! I had no idea what the "market value" is on this book. I know it's a good one and I also know it's from a tough period for DC's And, origin of the of the most iconic villians but this surprises me a little.

Here is mine. I don't know weather to be proud or ashamed for what I paid for it. I didn't even know until I got home what it was.

Seriously !? 12.5K for a 4.5. :eyeroll:

Just late last year the second 8.5 (and third highest graded) sold on ComicLink for 16-17K.

First sold for 15K in 2012, also on ComicLink.

As I said, a 1.8 sold for 4.2k not too long ago, so the book is obviously on the rise.

And why point the finger on a fellow boardie? He can ask what he wants, like everyone else.

Part of what motivated me to move to auction now Peter. I wish I'd have gotten my hands on that 8.5 before xmas! Unfortunately, I was in a frenzy about the cbcs 6.5 tec 66 in the same auction and lost out on both :)

Turned out to be a fortuitous turn of events though, as I have re-thought my position on acquiring any CBCS since then. Although that 66 presented nicely.
