Gotta post it once a year:

I’ll bet that married cover came from the huge stash of printers proof covers that Ray Storch from Berkeley bought MANY years ago. I probably bought 75-100 of them right after he found them.

It is possible and others have speculated about a Storch connection before.

At one point I had a number of high grade married cover books I got from a collector in Northern California. They were likely related to the Storch proofs - though they were all post code atlas and none had a miscut like this ST28.

This strange tales came from a different source (by way of auction) so I don’t know it’s history before 2015 or so.

I still have an uncut JIM 37 cover proof that I absolutely love. Everett!!!

Thought you didn't care for the stories in ACG books, RM?  Regardless, nice copy!

In general yes. I have always found them a little subpar content wise to their EC and other PCH competitors. I would add in Avon and Star as well. Many of these have great covers and do contain (especially Avon) some great art just a little dull.

I am about 95% complete on the other PCH runs. The other 5% are just out of my reasonable wheel house. Because I have a lot of these “lessor” content titles, I still love the hunt and ACG in general, are still fairly affordable, I decided to pick them up when they present themselves at reasonable prices.

I don’t say all ACG suk. There are some amazing covers, some high spots art wise and the later issues like this one were starting to go to the “dark side”.

Just fun to stay “in the hunt”…

That being said, how about two in two days? Hard to find reasonable PCH books like this for the cost of a cheap, common Marvel.

And like the genie on the cover says, I “released it from it’s age old imprisonment” from this ancient, yellowed, old plastic bag sent with no backing board or cardboard protection…It is much happier in a new shiny Mylar. Maybe I should ask the genie for some wishes…:roflmao:

Nice snag!  I've never seen that issue.  As you know, the ACG "horror" titles generally had one good story and three sappy ones.  If you don't have this issue, I would say it's the best of their runs.  Four GOOD horror stories.

Thanks. I’ve found this title to be the best of ACG’s horror output. I have most of them including this one. I need to pull it out and check it out again!

Congrats! You should be because it’s Bailey’s best cover. Also the greatest “devil” cover of the precode era. Look at Hell in the background! Simply awesome and I remember how excited I was to get one of these in my collection.
