So its was you I was bidding against!  I should have known... congrats. I'll get one yet!!  That was an odd auction, lots of cool but super rough books.

Sorry. :sorry:Thanks though. The price was right, aggressive, but right for this book.

You could have bought a 4.0 on ebay last night, which was mine.

New one rolled into the junk pile today. This bright & very glossy copy.

Third Ditko comic work and first cover. Every story is super violent and gory. Just what you would want in a PCH comic.

Last story is really a hoot!

This finally completed the run for me. Group shot upcoming…

Great book! Is the cover really drawn by Ditko?

According to my personal grading criteria for this particular book, which focuses on the intensity of redness in the eyes and richness of the yellow in the teeth, this my friend easily grades at a 9.2, but I'm giving it a .6 bump for the beautiful blue eyes, which I've never noticed before.  So a solid 9.8.  Excellent find and a true pleasure to admire.

It's a great cover but I don't think it's Ditko.

His first cover is Thing 12, with a slight possibility he contributed to #8.

This one according to the GCD has the Ditko art. The cover is just Iger shop work. The Hair Yee-eeee is the Ditko story.

I’ve wondered if there were a way to identify the Iger Shop artists in hope of crediting them for these awesome covers.

The GCD say it’s this story that Ditko is credited for the layouts and or pencils. Per Robin Snyder, Ditko recalls working on the story with another artist. "SS" signature "may" denote Steve Ditko and Sy Moskowitz.

That woman’s face in the bottom right panel looks like Ditko’s work to me!

There were many talented creators working for the studio who deserve recognition.  Many of the pages survived but I have not heard whether any of the business records did.

Thanks for sharing adamstrange! Perhaps there’s a computer program or even AI out there that could get us a step closer to defining who the creators were that worked at the studio? Maybe there are also examples of their work in other published works for other comic book publishers at the time that connects them to the art, or maybe there’s some comic book version of a “Rosetta stone?” Guess I could also ask Alexa or Siri for the answers🤔.

Artificial Intelligence evolved such that it can identify an author, if you provide enough samples of "known" work.  I'm not aware at how that is working out with respect to visual arts, but I think matters would be complicated due the difficulty of knowing who worked for Iger and having known samples of their work.  And the fact that many hands may have been involved in a single story.

Jay Disbrow self-published "The Iger Comics Kingdom" about the Iger shop.  It's short but probably the best that's been written on the subject.  I have a copy.  Somewhere.

As a baby faced nineteen year old kid, Eisner talked his way into a partnership with the older street smart Iger, then talked his way out a few short years later to launch the dream of illustrators, national syndication of a proprietary character.

Eisner was a rich man by the age of 22.

Eisner provided his share of the capital and was a proven deliverer of comic art.  Those were two valuable assets he brought into the partnership at a very young age.
