News of Excalibur Books and Comics of Portland, Ore, USA selling Miracleman no.1 Gold 11/400 to an unnamed collector for $1,500". This is where Overstreet pulled it's value from believe it or not! Are hasn't changed since... The article actually pictures gold cert entitled "American Comics", "Ray Johnson 9/30/85". It is copy 360/400. So there's another one.... I don't remember buying it but it must have been in the 80's and it was not from Heritage. I submitted it myself to CGC and then sold it on eBay in 2006. I hope there was not another raw #359 sold on Heritage. I bought #134 from eBay user comicopolis and submitted it to CGC also and then sold it earlier this year. I also bought #139 from eBay comicopolis and still have it raw. Interestingly, there is a boardie named comicopolis, but he said he is not that eBay user. followtheleader
I've been trying to locate a 23 for quite some time so I can finish the ole' school Gaiman. 24 was ridiculously good. I would have been pretty bummed to have that be the last issue back in the day (not that it's been much better for people the last decade either). jjeanius
Anyone else think it's ridiculous that Marvel is relaunching Miracleman as a regular monthly...? So...we're supposed to wait TWO YEARS to finally get any new material? I don't understand how they can expect to maintain hype for that long when reprinting older material. IMO, it would make much more sense to release the first 24 on a weekly schedule, and then go to monthly with issues 25+.

jjeanius
It's always been my understanding that Gaiman has had the Silver Age arc completely scripted for years now. Is this not the case? And...are Gaiman/Bucky planning on continuing the series once the Silver Age story wraps (presumably with issue 28)?
mschmidt
From what I've read, issue 25 was completed (written, illustrated, but not colored), but I've seen no mention that Gaiman has currently finished anything beyond that. I also doubt that Gaiman would be willing to publish #25 as is - I mean, it was written almost 20 years ago. This Comics Alliance article mentions that Marvel intends to publish "10 previously never-completed issues" - which, when you consider that the Gaiman/Buckingham run was intended to be 18 issues, broken up into parts of three parts of 6, would mean issue 25-28 of the Silver Age and issue 29-34 of the Dark Age. http://comicsalliance.com/miracleman-reprint-neil-gaiman-mark-buckingham-marvelman-marvel-joe-quesada/
jjeanius
Interesting. I never knew that the Gaiman/Buckingham run was slated for 18 issues. Nice to see it finally completed (even if it will take us three more years to get there).
heartened
Anyone else think it's ridiculous that Marvel is relaunching Miracleman as a regular monthly...? IMO, it would make much more sense to release the first 24 on a weekly schedule, and then go to monthly with issues 25+. I think it would be ridiculous if they are reprinting stories that have been well-read over the years and are familiar. This is different, though, as most comic fans either have never heard of it or never read it; thus it will be like a brand new series to 99.9% of people out there. Consequently, it should hold its own as a "new title" and "new story" if the art and story itself holds up, which I think it should. For the select few of us who have read the story before, you are right... we'll just be waiting till the new stuff. But I think we're the minority, and Marvel knows it. Of course time will tell.. If they muck up the launch or don't get traction early, then maybe they'll rethink their strategy.
