Almost afraid to ask, but given the certification environment we now seem to find ourselves stuck in, what was the prior grade on this gorgeous SF copy of Cap 1?  hm

Based on my quick scan of the book, I would conclude it has reached “maximum grade”.

always a cool book.  I wanted Tec 1-26 at one point long ago.  Thats a feat very few have accomplished in any grade!  But, they weren't that cheap, and usually in low grade, and so few people go after them, so as the Eightball sez:  "the future is cloudy"  But definitely a cool book to have and esoteric stuff like this has been doing well of late.

y’all think it’s been pressed?   then i think it’ll go for 5.5’ish dough; it’s no good anymore.

ok but what does the label image have ANYTHING to do with Batman or the Riddler ?

I understand your point but, the customer chooses custom labels not CGC.   They were designed for Marvel books.

It's a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, in other words.... Holy money grubbing Batman!

Well, for the L.B. Cole enthusiasts and collectors out there, it looks like today's Heritage Auction has a good sampling of some of his classic cover artwork with 6 issues running from the classic Blue Bolt 105 cover through to Blue Bolt 115.  :gossip:

Of course, I imagine there's absolutely no surprise here that the one leading the pack as of now would be this one here at a currrent hammer price of only $1,100:  :luhv:

Golden Age (1938-1955):Adventure, Blue Bolt #105 (Star Publications, 1950) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Off-white pages....

Yep, it ended at 2,400

Also about a half hour earlier a 2.0 on e bay ended at 1,900 with zero last minute action. It was at 1,900 for a few days actually. I almost pulled the trigger with a 2,100 dollar bid but didn't.

I liked the 2.0 better. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255396509953?

Notes for the 2.0 -

 detached cover
moderate wear to cover
small split bottom of spine

For the 2.5 -

heavy staple rust
large tear right bottom of back cover
light pieces out to cover
medium, heavy stain full top of front cover through book
moderate bends to cover
moderate creasing to cover
moderate spine stress lines to cover

I guess no real surprise here with all of the bidding action at the end for this classic L.B. Cole si-fi cover, as it finished up at $3,360 or pretty much 10X condition guide value by the time it was all said and done.  :applause:
