I agree that it added nothing. If he HAD to be included I would have preferred something that was more similar to his original character, perhaps a scenario where they have to go to him to learn a way of freeing Trinity from the current version of the Matrix since he is  a "trafficker of information" and the Merovingian will tell them if they get him something...blah blah blah.

rereading some syd field screenplay books-nothing should be in a film that doesnt advance character or plot.  His appearance was irrelevant.  You could say his character was advanced but since he was irrelevant to plot, that doesnt matter.  That movie screwed up so many elements of a screenplay.
The worst tho was the casino planet scene in last jedi-completely irrelevant to plot-nothing they did accomplished anything.  And it was long.  What a huge sin in screenplay writing.  20 minute scene that is completely irrelevant.  Canto Bight should have been called Cant-no-blight.

I have mixed feelings about this film. I didn’t hate it nor loved it. I feel like I need to watch it again.

Nothing will compare to the film and that’s ok. I enjoyed revisiting this world.

3/5 stars.

saw this with you. I also have mixed feelings and didn't hate it but I can also firmly say I did not love it. I have no interest in watching it again which generally relegates films to the 5 and under score.

5/10

The first film is a favorite of mine: the idea that we all exist in something called the Matrix was very unique, and I saw action sequences I had never seen before. 9/10

The second film tried to develop the "real world" but honestly it fell flat for me but is partially saved from a lower rating by the excellent motor cycle chase scene. 6/10

The third film is awful to me, and I have never been able to finish watching it, but I am certain I have seen the entire film from a few random TV viewings. 2/10

The 4th film didn't need to get made in my opinion and makes the stars of the first film look old. 5/10

As we discussed at the theatre last night, it was on par with the most recent Marvel films - better than Shang-Chi (my least favourite MCU film so far) and an average film like Black Widow and the Eternals. Some of the action scenes play best on the big screen.

Yes I think it is very comparable to the very average films Marvel has been releasing: Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Eternals.

As a fan of these movies, I really enjoyed it and loved the first act

however I can see anyone who didn’t love the movies to think this was long and boring

I didn’t think it was long or boring. But I definitely did not love it. I absolutely loved one scene in the movie which connected me with the past movies. And I thought Reloaded and Revolutions were great. Sheer eye candy. You can nitpick the hundred Smiths fighting with Neo as it looks like a video game today but no one said that in 2003 when they walked out of the theater. We had never seen anything like that. On top of that, we had the highway chase which is still stunning today. Then in Revolutions we had the amazing mechwar and the final showdown with Smith and Neo which set the bar for every Superman film to come later. I loved the trilogy. Resurrections just did not seem to be at the Matrix level of how big they went twenty years ago. And with the absence of Weaving, that really hurt the film for me.

This movie is officially the worst film that I have ever attempted to watch. Anyone remember me ragging on Punisher: War Zone? It's the 1 movie my brother and I never finished. We turned it off after 10 minutes. In fact, we reminisced about this on X-Mas Eve. lol

I tried watching this by myself and turned it off after 5 minutes. You're telling me that a handful of guys with full-auto ARs cannot hit a single large target at 10 feet that starts moving away in a straight line? What a f^&*ing joke.

0/5. Would never recommend.

You're the perfect example of why 0/5 or 1-out-of-10 reviewers should always be completely ignored - as in literally dropped - from any reviewer average calculations.

5 minutes. Yep. You're someone that others should consult. lol

@theCapraAegagrus version of cooking:

I tried cooking a steak and turned off the grill after 5 minutes.  The steak was raw and cold.

0/5. Would never recommend steak for anyone, ever.

That's a false equivalent, my guy.

My 0-star rating is certified accurate.

Thousands of people worked for years to build something that they've refined and presented for two hours.  You gave it 5 minutes.

Either thousands of people wasted their time, or you're poop.

Simple, binary choice.

As the Matrix showed, choice is an illusion.

You're poop.

Thousands of people definitely wasted their time. Keanu couldn't even keep all of that dirty money because he knows how bad the final product is.

Clip-clop.  Clip-clop.  Someone's on your bridge.

Even I give movies at least 15 minutes and that includes stinkers like Shang Chi.
