how come the books i am targeting still seem to go for gpa or above? this one's already over the highest sale price of 2022. isn't the market supposed to be tumbling?

Clicked on your link here and noticed this issue right after yours and currently running at $5.5K or about $9K below its price from November of 2021, but only about $3K below its two sales in June of this year:  hm  :luhv:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/the-amazing-spider-man-50-marvel-1967-cgc-vf-nm-90-off-white-to-white-pages/a/40202-82014.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-ThisAuction-120115

Silver Age (1956-1969):Superhero, The Amazing Spider-Man #50 (Marvel, 1967) CGC VF/NM 9.0 Off-white to white pages....

I guess that auction result of $14,400 from November of 2021 must have been when the crazies were still out there and hence the real outlier.  :tonofbricks:

So, the asm 50 in 9.0 with ow/w pages and  2 days to go before the auction closes (and a lot of bidding can happen during the last two days of the auction) is being compared with the 9.0 White pages copy that sold for $14.4K on Oct 31st as the outlier???

as @jjonahjameson11said, it makes no sense to compare in progress auctions with closed results, unless, as in the case of the asm 41, the current price is already higher than all completed previous results.

Totally agree with you here, but for potential buyers, might be a good opportunity if the donward trend continues.  hm  :wishluck:

As for the WP designation, I believe that @Jaydogrules as per his previous posts on this issue would respectfully tend to disagree with you here.  (:

Now, if it had one of those CVA or QES stickers on the holder, then that might just bring in the CPR crowd and push the book over the top.  :Rocket:

On this book in this grade, WP add a $1K premium.  It’s a tough book to get with white pages

It would appear to be much less so with respect to the GA market, especially the classis covers, since these books don't tend to show up as often.  (thumbsu

I was watching a couple of the Frazetta Famous Funnies books and they still seem to be going for record prices, even in mid-grade condition:  :luhv:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/famous-funnies-213-eastern-color-1954-cgc-fn-60-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122230-17289.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515

Golden Age (1938-1955):Science Fiction, Famous Funnies #213 (Eastern Color, 1954) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages....

This copy here sold for $12K or 20X the 2021 condition guide value and still at a strong healthy 9.25X the 2022 condition guide value even though Overstreet jacked up the valuations for this book by 158% in this year's edition of the guide.  :whatthe:

Although this one here has a lower valuation in the guide as it only went up by about 30% in this year's guide, it still sold for $9K or 15X the 2021 condition guide value and at a very strong 11.6X the 2022 Overstreet condition guide value:  (thumbsu

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/famous-funnies-215-eastern-color-1955-cgc-fn-60-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/122231-11437.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515

Golden Age (1938-1955):Science Fiction, Famous Funnies #215 (Eastern Color, 1955) CGC FN 6.0 Cream to off-white pages....

So, thankfully for now at least, the malise or softening in the marketplace has so far not spread to all corners of the market, as there still seems to be continued ongoing strength when it comes to large parts of the GA marketplace.  :wishluck:

As I own this run, I’m happy to hear that prices continue to climb! Yay for me!!

Well, did you see those two record setting prices for Spidey 300 earlier this week at the Heritage Auction:  :whatthe:

Hard to believe that a signed Newsstand copy can fetched over $30K while an unsigned Newsstand copy can still fetch almost 20K in today's supposedly softening marketplace.  :screwy:

It's almost like speculators and collectors are trying to split hairs here in order to justify a case of rarity for what is otherwise pretty much a relatively common book, even in nosebleed HG condition.  (shrug)

This is short sighted. These are people voting with their dollars, and if this wasnt a distinguishable feature, then it would be recognized as such.  Just because you don't want to dive into that lake doesnt mean the lake doesnt exist.

The next fairly obvious evolution of a subset is retired labels. Whether it creates a pricing disparity, that hasnt played out yet, but its a real thing with NM 98 with or without a Deadpool custom label, which I'll save you the typing, its a relatively common book in terms of census numbers. Sounds like thats going to breeze on by you as well, which is absolutely okay.

I couldn't find the new advisors in Overstreet but I did notice at least former advisor had been removed...hm

Yeah but this is a phenomenon related to the newsstand market. The overall market on blue label 9.8’s for this book has been trending down for awhile now:

Removed, or past away?

I believe he is most likely referring to oue favorite punching boy on these boards here, namely Dylan Schwartz, who was actually not listed as an Overstreet advisor starting with last year's guide.  :gossip:  lol

As for the new advisors on Page 208 of the guide, it looks like the Class of 2022 had only 2 inductees, namely Chris Simons from I Like Comics in Vancouver, WA and Jeff Walker (In Memoriam) from Pristine Comics in Seattle.  (thumbsu

Enough doom and gloom!  :baiting: True, even early Spidey's showed kinks in their armor across the board this year.  But ALL (!) the early Spideys #1 thru #20 had at least one grade in which the most recent sale (all in recent months) set all-time GPA records (actually, 3 of the 34 grades below nearly matched the record, so I included them, too).  E.g.:

ASM #2 in 6.5, 7.0

#3 in 1.0

#4 in 5.0

#5 in 6.0, 7.0

#6 in 9.2

#7 in 9.0, 8.5

#8 in 6.5

#9 in 1.0

#10 in 4.0, 2.5

#11 in 8.0, 7.5, 6.5

#12 in 1.0

#13 in 9.2, 2.5

#14 in 9.0

#15 in 1.5

#16 in 9.0

#17 in 8.0, 7.0, 5.5

#18 in 8.5, 2.0

#19 in 9.2, 8.5, 7.0, 6.5, 6.0

#20 in 9.4, 9.0

It has to start somewhere, right?  :whee:
