Blistick"?  Really?  Isn't that a lip balm? Note the knee pads, belt pouches, and arm bands that all the cool kids were wearing in the early 90's (thanks to the boy geniuses at Image Comics).

Is that an energy burst coming out of Blistik's lance, or is he applying soothing lip balm to the two enormous lips adorning (what I assume to be) Cap's shield?

I understand the liberties comic book artists routinely take with human anatomy, but when Cap's calf muscle exceeds the size of his peanut-sized skull, you've lost me.

Crappy artists getting hired by Marvel makes my blood boil when there are endless unknown great artists out there.  Bite me Marvel!!

Rocket Racer-since he has rocket skates that makes him stronger and faster than spider man.
Sounds legit.

why get bit by a radioactive spider?  just get some rocket skates and your strength and speed will increase dramatically.

I bought this off the stands. Neither me or my friends bought into it. We waited for a while, too. Nothing happened so we went and caught fireflies.

Something else, too: I was never "Startled" by a first issue. I was never "Amazed" by a "shocking" conclusion, either. I love this cover but it never startled me. Like I was walking down the middle aisle of Henry's Market in the '70's, saw this in my peripheral vision and said "AGH!"

One of my top 5 stupid covers. If I determined to collect all Batman issues, I would leave this one off out of spite. Seriously. What kind of conversation are they having? Grayson comes downstairs from Wayne Manor, finds Batman just hanging out in a vertical isolation tank and is like "Batman! Dinner is ready and Alfred....What are you doing?" it's almost like he did it on purpose just for attention. Really? Wearing your entire costume in an isolation tank? Thank God for Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams.

The seeming obsession to explain the cover art/story arc with extensive word balloons was a great DC weakness.  Really clunky.

"Superman! you're going around punching everyone!  Has red kryptonite affected you to make you do this?"
"Yes Jimmy and its all a plot of brainiac he has a bunch of red K and he's using them one by one to destroy me-it's up to you to stop him!"

"IT--UH--MUST BE AN ILLUSION!"

"IT'S ME--SUPERGIRL! AND I HAVE ALL YOUR POWERS! AND YOUR NOSE!"

There was a spell where the writers were making Superman say "UH" in every sentence in every conversation he had. Even thought balloons. "UH." "UH." "UUHHHH." Like Moose Mason from "Archie" comics.

whenever someone in DC says "er" that means they are lying.
"Lois i was -er-behind the building when superman arrived".

Okay, guys, listen up.  We’re going after the mob again today.  Last time, we lost a couple of cops to their Tommy guns.  This time, let’s put the kid out front on his bike.  He can ride faster with no hands than our motorcycles can go.

Make sure he brought a permission slip from his mom.

Bwah-ha-haaa. Tommy guns v .38 Special service revolvers. Yep. Kid is in the lead on a bicycle. Cops are holding their service revolvers with their throttle hands. How are they even moving?
