Oh wait I think I see it now. I thought this was part of the black line going down the spine, if this is the staple then I do see how this looks significantly different than the staple in the other picture, but it may just be because of the lighting.

In that pic, imo, it looks to have the same curve, I think now that the book is flat the staple may look different by comparison.

yes I thought it was oxidized  but now I think I was wrong.

I am surprised this discussion didn't start sooner.  No, I didn't switch comics somehow.  It is the one in the original photo.  I'm scouring the front cover for a flaw that shows in the original and the slabbed.  That's the rub isn't it; neither has an obvious flaw outside of dirt and spine roll.

Ah hah.  The tiny fleck of dirt to the right of the staple shows in both pics!

And the upper staple for comparison.  Don't know if it is in other copies, but this also shows a flaw by the knee.  It appears they did clean the staples as well.

Those Mr. Miracles look really nice and look real good in that frame.  Nicely done.  Did you frame them yourself or have it done?

 

 

As to the framing, I copied the look shown by others on this board.  Michaels did the framing.  Not the cheapest by a long shot, but I really like the results.  I bought and cracked 2 8.0s to make the Silver Surfer frame.  I only had #50 originally.  Personally I get way more pleasure seeing the art on the wall than I would pulling them out of a box once a year.  When I do get the urge to read something, nothing beats the vibrancy of reading an electronic version on my iPad.  Of course, I still have several hundred comics in 3 short boxes if the urge to sniff and touch old stuff strikes

Wait.  CCS clean & press includes staple cleaning now?
