The fact that it's a phrase that's been reduced to occasional "call-back" humour doesn't seem like an overwhelming problem.  2c

That search only lists the uses of the exact phrase. 

It's often posted with very slight modifications that don't show up in a search for it....so the number is likely two or three times higher and goes beyond "occasional call-back humour".

If stopping someone from posting in a thread also stops them from seeing the thread I think that is a bad idea. For one, they can just log out and view the thread so what's the point? You also better make sure there isn't a single post directed at that person from that point on. Being able to comment about someone who can't see the thread seems like a terrible idea.

I am looking at it as a means to perhaps suspend someone from a thread rather than suspend someone from the boards.

Either way, it's a late Festivus Miracle.
