Popular Post kazoo
Looking back with the help of mikesamazingworld.com , I see that my brother and I started buying comics with the August 1973 cover dates. I was 7 years old and had discovered Superman, so my two first buys were these, Action #426 and Superman #266 My brother was 10 and so more 'sophisticated', he bought a Captain Marvel #27 (July cover date, still on the stands), plus Defenders #7 and Thor #214, the Defenders in particular I read many times over and became a fan of the Hulk and Sub-Mariner. ttfitz, Ken Aldred, Galen130 and 8 others

Popular Post Artboy99
through all the things my comic collections have been through I still have my first comic: Fantastic Four 112. I was 5-6 years old when I picked it up. My Father took me with him into town one day to buy rye bread and lunch meats and when we arrived at the shops he wanted to go to he dug into his pockets and gave me some change and told me to "go buy some comics at that store there." It was a used book store and they had tons of used comics on shelves. Talk about a kid in a candy store! From that moment I was captivated, and started to draw from the books, and taught myself how to draw. Thanks Dad. The first comic I bought with my own money earned when I delivered newspapers after school was a Hulk #159. Today I have acquired a nice keeper copy, my original long gone. Flattered to be considered sophisticated. 6p British copy, though. Off Panel, KirbyJack and kazoo
aszumilo
Bought this off a friend for$1.00, only to find out later I could have bought it for a quarter off the rack. This is my original copy, probably a VG/F and still only worth what I paid for it. the authority, grendelbo, KirbyJack and 1 other

Popular Post comicstock
Dad picked up the Sunday paper & smokes at the Corner Store in Baptistown, still a small Jersey town you drive thru in 15 seconds. I saw this book on the bottom of a big magazine rack and asked if he'd get it for me. He did. Drummy
My first comics were Hulk #199 and FF #172, but I didn't buy them -- we were visiting a friend's house and he had some Marvel comics for us to read. (*swoon*) As far as buying one from the local drugstore, I think it was this one -- what a cover!
