Definitely agree. I said it earlier in this thread, but I think Capullo completely mastered Spawn's look.

They are both wildly talented IMO, so it's a matter of taste. I think that Todd is more capable of producing iconic images. Capullo is better at capturing the right atmosphere. He had a long run on the series, so his artwork became synonymous with the character as Todd went on to focus on other pursuits. 

Todd paved the way, but Capullo, for many, is THE quintessential Spawn artist. Fans of either artist have a strong argument. 

I think it's also important to note the teamwork between the two of them. Together, they were incredible. 

There are LOTS of fantastic artists on the series, however. One of my favorite runs, art-wise, was created by Philip Tan. I'm also a huge fan of Kudranski.

As we've seen,  millions and millions of bats have appeared on the cover of Spawn. 

I wonder if they ever created a set of wooden block "bat stamps" to save themselves some time?

IMHO, this totally slept-on (maybe just forlorn?) Spawn cover is one of the very best of the series. I will definitely acquire this issue again one day. I /love/ this cover. Just an absolutely beauty of a book!

Stunning copy! 

This book was and still IS at the top of the census. Quite possibly the best "Angela" book in the world? My old copy of issue 9 might give it a hard run for its money, however.

I think things really began to get a lot cooler when Danny Miki came along as an inker. I loved his work on the series. Take a look at this gargoyle! Sick! 

In general, I think the series begins to get a bit darker as it moves towards the 100s. Pretty fitting, considering the times.

We enter the "variant game" with this ish. 

There will be several. I will post one a day. Half of them are signed. I was going to get this one signed, but I guess I never got around to it.

SPAWN 100 (CAPULLO VARIANT) - CGC 9.8 

I meant to get all of these variants signed, but for some reason I skipped out on the two masters...probably because I already had their sigs. 

Honestly, I'm not a very big fan of signature books. However, I built this set as an archive, and I wanted to capture the signatures of everyone involved with the series. I wanted my collection to represent the full history of the title, and I thought that getting all these signatures would really capture the essence of the title, if that makes any sense. 

You are going to see some very interesting and obscure signatures very soon. So stay tuned!
