I'm guessing it's another employee scam. Either that or CGC is gift-grading books that belong to certain people in the industry, again. I think it is possible the books were sent through Comic Link and they may not have to follow the rule about all books within a submission being in the same tier. But without knowing the person who did the submission there is no way of knowing how that all played out. J Bill

Gaard
Once again, we have complete silence from CGC after one of these "incidents". It's like they think, correctly think, this will blow away and be forgotten, like all the rest of their questionable/bad decisions. What is more shameful, the act itself, or hiding under the desk afterwards?

BEAUMONTS
The only next logical step for CGC after pumping the 9.9 and 10 balloon in the forseeable future is then roll out a new tier. Possibly a Metropolsucks inspired incremental grading system. Possibly a 10.1 Ultra Mint Clown White Pages to whomp those lowly 9.9's and super common 10's, then keep on going incrementally from there . Like greed the sky is the limit. grendel013, Larryw7 and crazyhips 1

Popular Post gcstomp
The sub of X-Men 174s and Dazzlers, under high value tier is just an impossible leap. Those normally $10 books are not books anyone would sub in that way. This is a for profit gift to a pre arranged party. And this latest issue was found by someone just poking around half asses. Would it be any surprise if this is just a 1% of the issue. Years back, when Mcdonalds ran a monopoly game, every high end winner was doled out by a party who did not have safeguards in place to ensure fair distribution, so the game was rigged for personal profit. CGC does not have safeguards in place at the level of US mint, but more to the level of when you were an employee in 80s at Toys R Us and at end of shift, pockets were filled with packs of cards as you walked out. Err, so I hear. If there was a true forensic accounting of the 9.9s and 10.0s, I am sure based on what little we see, there are shenanigans at play. brute_nm, djzombi, Engr62 and 4 others

Broke as a Joke
Those 9.9s that are in the census as 9.8s: Are they 9.8s with the wrong label or are they 9.9s that have been entered in the census incorrectly as 9.8s? Confusing and possibly purposely done. I would bet that the books are 9.8s and encapsulated incorrectly as 9.9s. Looking at this example, I thought that a book had to be perfectly centered to be considered a 9.9. This book definitely has a slight miscut along the spine from top (no white is showing) to bottom. crazyhips
