i'd say yes.  but it will fall to my heirs to spend the money for that hoped-for bump.

Ah yes............it's so much more advantageous to live in the land of the "tax free", as opposed to the land where everything is deemed to be a capital disposition upon death and hence tax to the max.    :censored:

BTW:  With your connections when it comes to these books over the years, have you ever seen or come across the Larson copy of Wonderworld 3 in your travels and if so, how would it ranked as part of this trio of HG copies of Wonderworld 3?  hm

Interesting, so the Church and Allentown are both in 9.4 slabs but the census looks like this?

Simple explanation because if you check the CGC serial number for the posted Church copy (i.e. 1485124009) from a CC sale back in August of 2020, it now shows up as "This Item Cannot Be Found".  :gossip:

If you check the CGCdata.com link below, you can see that one of the CGC 9.4 graded copies was removed from the census for the week ending December 6, 2022 and then replaced by a CGC 9.6 graded copy for the week ending December 20, 2022:  (thumbsu

Admit it Dean.  You had it pressed and resubbed.

I just so wish that was true, but I believe that I would be much more of a "one and done" type of guy as clearly I would not be somebody as brave or daring like Ritter with his Promise resubs or Schmell with his Dell File Copies here:  :whatthe:   (:

Just starting to go through the lots for this week's Heritage Signature Auction and noticed this copy of Mystery Men 9 on Saturday:  hm   :luhv:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/mystery-men-comics-9-fox-1940-cgc-vg-fn-50-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7339-94140.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Auction-Open-BrowseAlsoViewed-012417

lf?set=path%5B2%2F7%2F4%2F8%2F5%2F27485909%5D&call=url%5Bfile%3Aproduct.chain%5D

Read the listing description and was rather shocked that there's only 2 higher graded copies of this book slabbed to date, with the highest graded being Jon Berk's former Church copy at a grade of only CGC 9.0 with the second highest being a CGC 8.0.  :whatthe:

I do like that one

Well, since you do like that one there in terms of the Mystery Men 9, then it's probably god news for you as the Heritage CGC 5.0 graded copy sold for a rather stunning $6,600 yesterday, as per my post in the Heritage thread below:  :applause:

Looks like nothing more than a continuation of the ongoing strong prices that we have been seeing on the early Fox books.  (thumbsu

This Wonderworld 7 being not only a classic cover, but probably the best cover in the entire Wonderworld run should really be not much of a surprise considering that a equivalent graded 3.0 copy had sold for $10,200 back in April of 202.  :applause:

The one that did surprised me a bit at how strong it finished up at was this copy of a non-classic cover Mystery Men 9 which finished at $6,600:  :whatthe:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/mystery-men-comics-9-fox-1940-cgc-vg-fn-50-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7339-94140.s

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Mystery Men Comics #9 (Fox, 1940) CGC VG/FN 5.0 Cream to off-white pages....

Than again, I guess it should really not have been that surprising considering this issue seems to be a real toughie to find in grade.  Especially considering that this mid-grade 5.0 copy is still the 3rd highest graded copy and surpassed by the Church copy at only a CGC 9.0 and the 2nd highest just a slight notch higher at a grade of only CGC 5.5.  :whatthe:   :cloud9:

I think a good chunk of the WW 3's are probably in boardie hands, here's mine.

Although I would tend to agree with you here, it seems kind of sad that this key first appearance issue now seems to have been passed by Wonderworld 7 in this classic cover centric marketplace that we currently find ourselves in nowadays.  hm  :frown:

Wonderworld 7 is a better comic.

Cover to cover it's a better comic, as there is a wild world-wide zombie attack in the cover story that was also drawn by Lou Fine.

Well, if we are going cover to cover, then how about WW 8 since that cover image certainly looks like it should also have an enticing cover story?  hm

+1

But the alien story in #8 is still pretty sweet!

For Wonderworld 3 - 11, Fine drew the cover and an interior story.  His covers for Science, Weird, and Mystery Men were for issues where he did not contribute to the interior.

I sure wish he had done some Black Condor covers for Crack to go along with the amazing stories he did inside.

Gil Fox was the art editor and, with complete impartiality meh, decided that he was Quality's best cover artist.
