  1. Great turnaround on my latest group of 15 Value Fast Track books. Received at CGC: 18-May-15 Shipped: 12-June-15
  2. On another note, checking out the prices on ASM #238 CDN and this book, is this now the most valuable CDN newsstand variant?
  3. Looking at the image, it appears to be the combination of a spine crease and a scratch on the slab/scanner surface or, more likely, some plastic in between the inner well and slab case. It extends past the spine of the book in the scan. Like I said, this was subbed during a weaker grading period.
  4. Are you kidding? If the local economy dips, everyone and their grandmother will be looking for things to scalp on eBay. We will see, but last downturn there was a drop in people hitting stores for back issues due to less disposable income. I expect to see more collections surface, though, so I hope that the US economy stays strong if we have a prolonged downturn here as it will provide a viable market to sell books into and, most importantly, a weaker $CDN = nice exchange rate bonus.
  5. I think I sold my last couple of copies at $10 at shows last year. The Copper market is still going strong out here, although I expect to see a downturn sooner or later due to the drop in oil prices. We had one longer time buyer sell off his collection at the Calgary Expo to another dealer for $28K. I expect to see more collections come available over the rest of the year. That being said, most of the LCSs are devoid of accurately graded and priced key/hot books. It kind of sucks - I used to be able to walk into 4 or 5 stores, pick up the hot books for cover/just above cover in the back issue bins, and flip them for a nice profit. Now there is too much buying competition in the market - if you do not get there the same day a book pops it will be cleaned out. I hope that the slow down in the economy helps with that as well. lol
  6. Looking at recent price action, Flash #139 is still going strong. It is funny to see that the lowly 6.5 I have on the way back from CGC is worth more than my previous 9.0 copy now.
  7. Nice! Been grabbing those every time I see them (usually in buck bins). Call it gut feeling for a GOTG movie appearance, plus her series was by Abnett & Lanning and James Gunn is a fan of that creative team. Great minds, my friend I picked up a small stack of #1s and a couple of sets in a collection last summer. I was going to blow them out in $1 boxes but figured the GGA would be worth something to the right collector so I held on to them, luckily...........
  8. A complete reboot? Reminds of the New 52 by DC So far Secret Wars has been NOTHING like the New 52. Marvel is embracing their characters history & creating solid continuity to allow a new entry point for a new generation. I love it. I have not read all of the titles, but talking to two of the people I trust at LCSs it sounds like this relaunch is hit and miss just like Marvel Now and New 52 were before it. So far Secret Wars is okay (I am expecting it to fizzle towards the end like Age of Ultron), Old Man Logan is good (but #1 did not read as well as Wolverine #66 did in the first go round), Future Imperfect is fun, and Deadpool Secret Wars is typical Deadpool, but the other titles I flipped through at the store did not seem worth my $$$ so I passed on them.
  9. Up until this year it really was not worth it to slab Valiant keys. I paid $25 for a 9.6 Rai #0 the day the news broke that had been sitting on a dealer's site for a while. Outside of a handful of issues the prices did not justify the slabbing fees.
  10. Interesting. I hope he nails it so I can finally move my GL #23.
  11. I am not sure. I can check - it is either a spine ding or a scratch on the slab. This was submitted during a softer grading period so my guess is that it is a spine ding.........
  12. Oh I guess that's the new going price now... Just looked and both went for less than the 12 month average after the book seemed to be jumping the past few months. It will be interesting to see if this is a bit of a trend or just people buying the book, not the label.
  13. The two B&B #28s went for lower than latest GPA prices in grade tonight. Both were weak for the stated grades and sold accordingly..........
  14. Creating brand new characters at Marvel or DC is not beneficial to the creators. While they do get some revenue from multimedia adaptations, the bulk of that licensing money goes to the comic book companies (Marvel/DC). If a creator has an idea for a great new character, they are better off using it for a creator-owned project since they would get 100% of the revenue from licensing deals. +1 Why let the big 2 get the bulk of the $$$ from your best ideas?
  15. Maybe if there was a test tube with "Papa Parker's secret sauce - AF 15" on it?
  16. Nice stack, Rob. Have you ever done a pic with all of your raw and graded copies together? (thumbs u
  17. Spider Aliens and X-O armor would be easy to mention. They could also show Shadowman's face on a screen someplace to tie him in.......
  18. The key to buying moderns now is to either speculate at 35-50% off of cover (depending on where you buy them) or to wait a few months for the hype to die down and pick them up from sellers/LCSs blowing out stock at local shows. There are a couple of LCSs that set up at local shows that I try to hit before I am fully set up since they 1) do not pay attention to what is hot and 2) blow their copper and modern books out at $0.50 - $1 apiece. It takes some time, but is a good way to buy stock to flip at the shows as well.
  19. Too bad, but at least it was fun flipping Swamp Thing #37s while it lasted........
  20. I paid $25 for my 9.6 Rai #0 on the day the investment was announced from a dealer's site and that was the only one I could find. My guess is there are not a lot that were slabbed as it was such a plentiful book - I have seen two stores with long boxes of overstock of that issue in the past.
  21. depends how much you are paying for them And which books you are speculating on as well.......
  22. 6.0/6.5 CGC would nail it for the staining on the back (some will come off, some will not) and the spine split.
  23. Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans... man lots of Chris's... Henry Cavill... Those guys are "stars"? They're just dudes who have been lucky enough to get cast in some successful movies that would have been successful regardless. -J. No, that's my point exactly. Those dudes aren't stars, and yet they're in comic movies that are very successful and entertaining... He missed it. As long as the -script is strong and the tie in with BvS then the JLA flicks for the character works, the movie will do well whether JM is a star or not.
  24. I do not read the book, but based on all of the copies of #1 and EoSV #2 I have sold I appreciate it....... That being said, I don't know how much story or artwork impacts characters like this. Look at Deadpool as an example - they can put out a steaming pile of a story or fugly artwork, call it Deadpool, and it sells for multiples of cover a couple of months later.......
