  1. It does not matter. The GoTG trailers were great and everyone wanted to see it - fan-boys and general public. They were also running on TV a couple of months before the movie. The Ant-Man trailer is mediocre and will not attract as many general public viewers. Some of that has to do with the character, and some of it with the cast. Paul Rudd does not have the charisma of Chris Pratt as the lead. Sorry, but him being cast as Ant-Man is Marvel's equivalent to Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern. That being said, it will probably do $400M+ worldwide which I would take laughing all the way to the bank if I were Disney (or Warner with their 2nd and 3rd tier properties). How many non-comic movies released now fail to reach that in tickets sales?
  2. Well.............if Nowhere Men is coming back as rumored then maybe Todd will eventually as well.
  3. Looks like he's wearing an Ant-Man costume to me. So.............Ant-man costume = red one piece women's bathing suit? Now, if Marvel had gone the way of the female revamps with their comics recently and cast her as Ant-Man in a red "suit" they would have a huge winner on their hands. (thumbs u
  4. worldwide, i never speak about the US market as it doesnt matter, all that matters is the actual total a movie makes, versus its budget I think it will be a $400-$450 million worldwide movie at best along the lines of the first Thor flick. Ant-Man is a 3rd tier character and based on the weak trailers I think Marvel would be happy with that mark. Personally, since I speculated on the #1 and still have a few copies left (they were selling for $6 - $8 at spring shows, variants for $10 - $25) I would love to be proven wrong so I can move the rest at $20 apiece instead.
  5. +1 I think this will be the movie that starts the super hero movie bubble to pop. MARVEL productions will be fine, but future WB/DC films will be hurt. Actually, my money is on Ant-Man being the first new wave super hero movie to tank. I wouldnt bet on it. It will be a 700-800 Million movie for sure. Worldwide or domestic? No way it hits that mark domestically. It looks like a dud in the trailers compared to every other Marvel Studios movie to date. I am basing this on the reaction of my kids and friends' kids - their reaction is to this flick which does not bode well.

  7. My kids and I had the opposite reaction. Time will tell, but I think Ant-Man will be Marvel's first dud. GotG looked great in the trailers while Ant-Man does not........ Based on my kids' reactions, this may be the first super hero movie I miss in the theatres. Or, I will go with a couple of comic collecting buddies and leave them at home. Gauging on the reaction of other friends' kids, I think this one will be the first Marvel miss.

Actually, my money is on Ant-Man being the first new wave super hero movie to tank. Based on the bad trailers (especially the weak one leading into Avengers AoU), it is the first Marvel movie I am debating going to. My kids do not want to see it, and a couple of comic/sci-fi buddies with kids are planning on skipping it as well. GotG looked cool in the trailers, while Ant-Man looks blah.
  9. To be honest, I thought the 5.5 on Heritage was overgraded. Looking at the large crease on the bottom right, the crease in the upper left and apparent 1/2" (or a bit more) split at the top of the spine, the tear on the upper right side, and other areas (along the spine, mid right side) with creasing/wear it is more of a 4.5/5.0 IMHO. It does have nice color and a clean white back cover, but there is too much damage on the front for a 5.5 as far as I can see.
  10. To get things back on track......has anyone seen any sales of note recently?
  11. But the art was horrendous. This is from memory I haven't read it in a long time. I pulled out a copy today and concur with your assessment of the artwork. It was brutal - looked like chicken scratching in some of the panels. Everything else is done correctly though, despite the chicken scratch art style, which is why he draws comics for a living and you don't ~ Don't get me wrong - I like his artwork, but some of the New Mutants stuff looks like it was done in 5 minutes and this issue is one of them...........

  13. Here are my two slabbed copies - I lucked out and picked them up just before prices skyrocketed.........
  14. Nice stack to flip and turn into an undervalued SA key or two.......
  15. I sold my last copy, a VF-, for $120 a month or two ago at a local show.
  16. This is fantastic news! Now I will be able to sell my remaining few copies of NWM #1 1st for $20+ again instead of just $6-$8 apiece at shows......
  17. Using three recent examples, there is a bit of a discount on the lower page quality books: Greg's 4.0 copy sold at $3900 with slightly brittle pages: http://www.gregreececomics.com/Comics/BRAVE_AND_THE_BOLD_28_CGC_4_0_SB_PAGES There was a recent sale on eBay for a 3.5 with C-OW for $3750. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brave-The-Bold-28-1st-Justice-League-of-America-CGC-3-5-CREAM-OW-Pgs-/311355831454?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item487e40f49e According to GPA, the most recent 4.0 sale of $4327 was for an OW-W copy in March (2 months ago and before the recent price run up - that is looking like a good deal now). My guess is that the 4.0 with OW-W would sell for closer to $5000, possibly more, in the current market due to the page quality.
  18. I have had old label C-OW SA DC keys (and Marvel) that come out as OW (or even OW-W) now to be willing to pay a premium for just OW.
  19. C-OW seems to be the cut-off grade for page quality with SA keys. Anything below that tends to be discounted, and W pages will get a premium with early SA DC keys (but not as much for Marvel as they tend to be OW-W to W more often). That being said, it is interesting to see how short the supply is for decent copies of B&B #28 this year. There are only 7 unrestored copies on eBay right now. At this time last year a collector could have their pick of a number of available copies all over the place.
  20. I like the new Joker look in these recent pics. He looks more like the DKR Joker. (thumbs u
  21. Lots of people waiting to see the ending price to see if it's time to "unload". I believe this book is now very HTF because so many people submitted hundreds of thousands of copies to redeem their DHC Barb Wire AH variant -very hard to find -available on ebay for cover price pick one I pick - its called a joke I would take a Hughes cover over that drek. cheapest I could find, $9.00 shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Wars-1-1st-Print-Marvel-Comics-2015-Luke-Leia-Darth-Vader-Wow-/271871406999?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f4ccc7397 They were selling well at the Calgary Expo for $6 and then $8 apiece even though some stores in town still had them on the racks.
  22. It heated up. An Adv 260 CGC 7.5 C/OW just closed on the 'Bay for $928. Not bad. Still below Showcase #30 but since I have both I hope they both continue to run.
  23. I am not sure it was underpriced. The "Slightly Brittle Pages" on the label is a big issue for most of us here.........
  24. It's a tough book period. But, there are still a lot of BA collections out there, and by it's nature (even with the internet) it is a very personal and private affair. This is the one book I have never found in 9.4+ in any DC/Batman centric collection I have picked up. The main Batman issues (227, 232, 234, 251, etc.) and Tec issues (395, 400) are easy to land in high grade, but the post-400 Tec books tend to be hit and miss condition wise in the collections. Tec #405 (1st League of Assassins) is another tough book in high grade (9.4+). They are out there. I bought two beautiful raw copies out of OO collections over the past 10 years. One slabbed out 9.8 white and the other in my collection is 9.4/9.6. Still haven't found a 9.4+ Tomahawk 116 though. Now that's a tough Adams book in true NM or better. Kept this one since the 9.8 had a miswrap. Gorgeous copy! The best I have done with private OO collections is a 9.0ish copy. My old 9.2 was a purchase from Brian/foolkiller a few years back. The problem I find locally is that most Batman collectors up here upgraded/took better care of their Batman run issues and considered the Tecs to be less important to their collections. I have noticed a shift the past few years from Adams collectors wanting both titles at the local shows to them primarily going after only the Batman run........
  25. Looks like a new GPA high for a 9.6 will be set tonight: http://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/batman-adventures-12-dc-1993-cgc-nm-96-white-pages/a/121520-13250.s
