  1. Good morning, Unfortunately, we don't have statistics on how often a grade might drop after a signature was added. It definitely does happen but I don't believe the majority of books in this situation go down. When you submit a book for a signature and the book has to be cracked out of the holder, that basically voids everything that happened previously regarding that prior grade. It is a risk that customers take when they request to have their book cracked out for a signature as this is always a possibility. So, unfortunately, there is nothing really that can be done in that case if you choose to have the book cracked out of the holder for any reason. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thanks!
  2. Hi, you can send that over to submissions@cgccomics.com and we will be happy to check into it further for you. Thanks!
  3. Hi, thanks for your message. I ran your question by our graders and they advised that we have done it in the past so if you would like to send it back we can add that to the label for you. Please contact our customer service department and they can advise you on how to submit a mechanical error back to us and provide you with a shipping label to send that back to us for a free correction. You can reach customer service at submissions@cgccomics.com. Thanks!
  4. Good morning, I ran your question by our graders and they advised that we've never seen this particular book before so we would need to see the book in hand before we could say 100% if we could or could not grade it. However, just by looking at the picture, they do not think it would be something that could safely be encapsulated. They also do not recommend taking the badge off as it looks to be taped on there so removing it could very well cause damage to the book. You are welcome to send the book in for the graders to examine and we could let you know for certain if we can or cannot do it. Thanks!
  5. Good morning, Thanks for your message. As far as I am aware, the FedEx International rate table hasn't changed. We would need to take a look at your specific invoice to determine why you were charged more. If you can provide your invoice number, we can check further for you. Thanks!
  6. Hi, thanks for your message. We would need to see the book in hand before we could make any determinations. You could send the book in for a screening to see if it is possible to separate the pages. If that could not be done then we would advise you before it proceeded further in the grading process. You can find out more about our screening services here: https://www.cgccomics.com/ccs-pressing/ You can also reach our customer service department at 877-662-6642 or submissions@cgccomics.com. Thanks!
  7. Once the book is cracked out of the CGC holder, the original grade is no longer valid. It is possible that the grade made change. While all of the artists signing do try to be as careful as possible with the books they are signing, there is always the chance with any signing that additional defects might be made during the signing process which would effect the grade. If this is something you are concerned about, you might want to consider adding pressing to your services. In that case the book would go into pressing after the signature but before grading. Thanks!
  8. Good morning, Thanks for your message. Are you referring to sending an already CGC graded book in for one of the private signings? In the case of a book that is cracked out of a CGC case for a signing, once the book is out of the CGC holder that original grade is no longer valid and there is always the chance the grade could change. While all of the artists signing do try to be as careful as possible with the books, there is always the chance a new defect might be caused during the event. The graders are going to grade the book not on how it was before the signing but the condition of the book as it is currently when it gets in to them. It is possible for the grade to go down in that case. If that is something you are concerned about, you might want to consider opting for pressing as well as grading. In that scenario, we would press the book after the signing and before it goes in to the graders. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thanks!
  9. Good morning, Thanks for your message. No, this should not cause an issue. Our graders would list the correct name of the book or make any corrections, as needed. Thanks!
  10. Good morning, Thanks for your message. You should have received an email once your order was submitted and in that email is a link you can click to print your packing slip. If you can't find that, we can resend that for you if you can provide your order number or your customer number. Thanks!
  11. Hello, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, customers aren't able to see charges or credits on their end but if you contact our accounting department, we can send you a breakdown of charges. Your membership credit is linked to your account and the credit amount is deducted prior to being charged for your orders. You can reach our accounting department at 877-662-6642 and following the prompts for accounting or you can email us at submissions@cgccomics.com. Thanks!
  12. Hi, thanks for your message. There is a $5 fee to crack out a previously encapsulated book. You don't have to put the book in a window bag but we do recommend including a window bag in with your book if you want the book to be signed in a particular place. You don't need to notate on the form that it is already graded, the fee will be added here on our end when we receive the order. Thanks!
  13. Hello, thanks for your message. You can certainly send a book in for a regrade but there is no guarantee that the grade will change. The books go through several different graders and it is the consensus of all of their opinions that will determine the final grade. If you haven't already done so, you might check to see if there are any graders' notes which can sometimes help provide some insight on why a book graded a certain way. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!

Hello, thanks for your message. In order for the book to receive the signature series label it would have to come directly from the artist along with the completed creator agreement form. If you send it in to us yourself then it would only be able to receive a qualified label. Thanks!
  15. Good morning, Thanks for your email. It might be something on the inside of the holder itself. You can send these pictures over to our customer service department and they can advise you on how to proceed. You can reach them at submissions@cgccomics.com. Thank you!
  16. Hello, you can call or email our office and provide your customer number and we can check that for you. You can reach us at 877-662-6642 or by email at submissions@cgccomics.com. Thanks!
  17. Thanks! I'll forward this over to our reps that handles the website.
  18. Good afternoon, Thanks for your message. Member discounts and/or grading credits cannot be used towards the private signings, unfortunately. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
  19. Good morning, thanks for your message. You can actually check any book on our website by entering the certification number from the label into our certification lookup feature and it will bring up all of that particular book's information. In this case, it does appear that it was graded a 9.6. It is unlikely that the book was ever cracked out and tampered with as you would definitely see signs of that on the holder. It would be pretty much impossible to reseal a holder once a book was cracked out of it. If you feel the book was overgraded, you could always send it in to us for an appearance review and we can have our graders review the book. You can contact our customer service department for more information at submissions@cgccomics.com or by phone at 877-662-6642. Thank you!
  20. Hi, thanks for your message! Once the books have been signed and move into the grading process you will see the status change over to grading and then quality control and then finally finalized/shipped. We will let everyone know when each signer is coming in to the office and when they are finished with each signing so stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more information. Thanks!
  21. Good morning, thanks for your message. What you are seeing are called Newton Rings. They are a visual phenomenon that occurs when light passes through plastics with different refractive indexes (how they bend light). It’s what you sometimes see on a smartphone screen protector, or on the edges of an LCD television screen. In our cases, it’s the refractive qualities of the hard outer shell and the archival-quality Mylar sheets over the book, which have been approved by the Library of Congress for the preservation of paper. There are Newton Rings on most books but on books with darker covers, it can be more noticeable. If you would like to send these pictures over to our customer service department they can assist you further on this. You can reach them at submissions@cgccomics.com. Thanks!
  22. Good morning, No, you would not be charged a grading fee for that. It would be credited back to your CGC account and you could use that as a credit towards future submissions, or, if you prefer, you can have that credited back to your credit card. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thanks!
  23. Good morning, I checked the order and it looks like that shipped out yesterday on 6/1. Again, all the turnaround times are approximate and we try to stick as close to those as we can, however, some things can take longer than others to get through the grading room. Unfortunately, with the current global pandemic, some delays in processing and shipping may occur from time to time. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks!
  24. Good morning, thanks for your reply. Yes, the private signing is a witnessed signing so those signatures will receive the yellow signature series and the other signatures would receive the green qualified label. Your book would receive the green/yellow label as someone mentioned above. You can find more about our labels and see what that would look like here: https://www.cgccomics.com/comic-grading/labels/ Thanks!
  25. Hello, once we receive the creator agreement with the item, we will contact you, the customer to obtain additional information such as grading tier, value, shipping method, etc. That is why you need to have your name and customer number listed on the creator agreement so that we can contact you once that is received here in the office. Thanks!
