  1. You paid $956 for the ASM #129 right? What are you selling it for?
  2. STOP BUYING!!!! Why would you buy a Man Thing 2? You should be saving your money, not trying to flip expensive comics. We have all told you this. Where did you get the ASM 129? That is an expensive book to be buying when you have no savings and almost no income. The man thing 2 was a 2 dollar comic and the asm 129 is a quick flip and I already have some people interested. Yeah, sure ASM #129 sells, but the 90 Day GPA is $1075. Last sale was a high at $1200...If you paid $956 for it, what are you hoping to resell it at? Was that $$$ in your PayPal include the $700 "gift" you just received from the "sale" of the BB#28?

  4. VERY interested to know what you paid for the ASM #129 CGC 8.5 Were these internet finds? Did you "break in" your new credit card with these buys?
  5. Late to the party, but here are my personal Top 10 preferences... 1 - 'Nuff said 3 - Doc Ock is awesome 6 - I personally love the Lizard 4 - Sandman 9 - Electro Note: #4 and 9 are VERY close for me but place a slight edge with Sandman... 2 - I am not a big fan of the Vulture. I find him to be one of the "weaker" Spidey villains. 5 - Still early Doctor Doom! 10 - Enforcers were a big part of early Spidey, could be "modernized" maybe? 8 - Torch! Part of story making Spidey and Pete such good friends and on occasion, adversaries 7 - Not a big Vulture fan, 2nd appearance......
  6. No that was about trading comics because I kept failing at it. You specifically said deals, Gabe. I don't remember saying that but I do know I need to sell off what I have. Gabe .... that was a massive discussion point ... and you don't remember saying that? Okay. Everyone was begging you to stay off making deals of any sort (because it really wasn't working for you). You relented and promised to not make any deals until 2017 (I think for a second there, you realised deals were a mistake for you). You haven't got the many years of experience behind you that a lot of people have here (in making successful deals). One relatively successful deal (with massive generosity from another boardie), does not a wheeler-dealer make. Can I somehow drum it into you that none of us are giving you bad advice .. we're actually trying to help you .. but .. does what Metal wrote above ring any bells for you? I went through a few posts back and it seems many were initially under the impression that Gabe gave up buying as well but promptly turned around and bought something, we all went nuts, then Gabe "clarified" that he was "done trading until 2017" and then there was more talk, something about gambling and welfare and then jobs searches and...Yeah.
  7. Sell now or hold for a bit? It will be great to have a villain who is able to go "toe to toe" with Batman...I know we had Bane but I don't think he was used to his full potential?
  8. I haven't been following any of the DC shows but as I was packing up some books from recent ebay sales, SG just happened to be on as I was "surfing" so I watched it. I enjoyed it. Seems fun. I might now have to give the other ones I try, like Legends of Tomorrow and Flash. I did watch Arrow for awhile but fell off the wagon pretty early on.
  9. Even though not a Ditko, one of my favorites. Thanks! My next buy will likely be a Ditko book
  10. that is one good looking 8.0 Thank You! 37 more to go....
  11. One more book closer towards completing an ASM run...
  12. Thanks to the two people who voted - I listened to one of you! I was able to pick this up for a very fair price. I feel like I now have the most important "Goblin" books, except for 1st Norman. Update - Current ASM's needed to complete the run: #1 to #12 #15 - #24 #27 - #32 #35 - #38 #43, #45, #47, #48, #49 37 total issues needed to complete the run...My goal is to pick up at least one more key from the list before the year is out.
  13. Gabe is NEVER going to quit "dealing" in comics. This one good deal (thanks to a very kind buyer who could have easily taken him for a ride) is only going to further reinforce in his mind that he is "good" at this. He has admitted earlier in the thread to basically being unmotivated, doesn't want to "put up with any mess" and I can imagine being difficult to deal with. He lacks of clear vision or path towards his future and would rather entertain "kewl" stuff like selling comics, video games and voice acting.
  14. Hmm I'm thinking of a TOS 39 coverless because I think I just scouted another deal. Coverless books are some of the MOST DIFFICULT to flip. There is a very small number of people that would have any interest in a coverless book. How long did it take you to sell your Action 15? Please take the $700 and put it in your bank account. Now DO THIS ^^^ Until you get 3 months of living expenses saved up in a bank account, you should not be "investing" this kind of money in rolling "hot deals". You need to build up your savings cushion FIRST. Once you got 3 months of living expenses saved - THEN you can start playing/investing in comics (but still, I would advise against doing big deals period.) +1,000,000 Gabe, you got a good deal...Use that good fortune to help yourself and stick at least $500 of that $700 into some kind of savings. Maybe use the little extra to invest in yourself (something you actually need). You only work 20-25 hours per week at a minimum wage job. You live with your parents still (do you pay for your own groceries, or any other household expenses?). If you lost your job and/or your parents wanted you out, could you support yourself? If the answer is no, then 100% put the $$$ into savings and use it as a nice start to building some financial security for yourself. As for the credit card, you keep talking about building credit, well there is such a thing as "bad credit" too. If you are hell bent on getting a credit card, get a low interest one with no annual fees. Get something basic and if you are approved for a $2 grand, make your limit $1 grand or hell, even $500. IF building credit is all you really want it for but I suspect that is just a bit of a smoke screen. ...Coverless copy of TOS #39...I don't know how "good" of a deal it is, but selling a cover less copy of that likely won't be a quick flip.
  15. I think most here were just confused as to how the deal actually worked as A) Gabe did not communicate it the best and the 'story' seemed to change a few times, B) Many people do find that a substantial "finders fee" and C) Gabe has been on the wrong end of a deal in the past so there was also that thought/concern. Kudo's to you for honouring your agreement and at the end of the day, regardless of the real and/or perceived value, if you are both happy, then that is all that truly matters with this particular deal. It is a nice book and congrats on obtaining it. Now about that credit card...
  16. Agreed. I wonder if something is being lost in translation but If Gabe actually profited $700 out of this deal for essentially a finder's fee well yeah, damn.
  17. Thanks and good luck with your endeavor as well. I have a *NEW* book to add to the run but it is stuck in customs right now hope to have it before Canada Post decides to strike or get locked out "for real" this time...
  18. Decided to start slabbing a few of my personal copies raw copies "here and there". Might not continue the practice just as it takes $$$ away from getting new books I need...The colours on this one are bright and I did like the original clone stuff and I do miss Ben Reilly...
  19. I normally don't sub mid grades but seeing some of the prices for these guys, decided what the heck.... Some minor Bats...I will be honest, thought it had 9.8 potential LOVE this magazine cover...I think MOST magazines under appreciated. I could see myself collecting mags more...
  20. Thanks. That is good advice. I was really leaning AWAY from having boxes on the ground and this cinches it. I have room for about 18 long boxes. I think though I might bring a few other boxes to "rotate". That is one thing I got a lot of compliments on my last show was how organized and nicely it looked. I think I want to maintain that standard.
  21. Not sure if anyone cares but I am going to keep going I am officially signed up for the next Northeastern Antiques Collectibles & Nostalgia Show. This time the organizers have decided to try to make it a 2 Day Show. Saturday October 15th and Sunday October 16th. I am interested to see how a 2 Day Show performs vs the 1 Day format. The price went up a bit due to the extra day, but still (I think) very affordable. I am getting a "booth" for $225.00 - This will be my only real expense for the show as I have done two previous shows and I now have everything I need already. I am getting the exact same spot I have had for the past two shows which is great as it is close to the main entrance (and washrooms) and they are allowing me to reconfigure the space how I want. Question for anyone reading: I will have more boxes priced and ready to go than the previous two shows but not enough table space for all of them...How do people feel about boxes under the table? Or would a sign saying other boxes available or something like that be better? I would also try to "rotate" some during the course of the show. Thoughts?
