  1. Hey Jayman, think you could do that with the other covers, too??!!
  2. Hehehe, sorry for the delay, creeps! Had to wait for the wind to pick up and the thunder to crackle a little more. Ambience, ya know. So anyway, it was a dark & stormy night... .....and I'd thought I'd check my email before the power went out. So there in my mailbox is a query from a man who wants to know if I take submissions of original art for HORROR COMICS REVIEW. I do, so I mail him back stating so. I'm thinking of course he must be an artist. He mails me again asking if I was familiar with the Ekgren covers. I mail him back stating yes I am, that they are favorites of mine. Turns out the guy is the grandson of Ekgren! Not only that, he has in his possession an ORIGINAL UNPUBLISHED horror painting by his grandfather that he would like to see published! Sadly, I had to explain to him that HCR is a non-profit fanzine that pays in contributor copies, and there was no way I could afford to purchase the rights to publish his grandfathers work. It's a labor of love. I tried to get him to send me a scan of the work just so I could see it, but he wasn't going for that! Anyway, I have no reason to believe he wasn't legit, as he provided many details about his grandfather. He simply isn't coming off of the rights to print the painting without a wad of dough. I still have his addy, so maybe some other dark & stormy night.....
  3. Hmmmm... should I tell the tale now or wait for a dark and stormy night...
  4. I love those Ekgren covers! Did I ever tell you the story about how Ekgren's grandson contacted me ...
  5. I felt it was way overbid, myself. Nice lot, but even if I was able to afford it I would not have gone that high.
  6. The skulls are a nice touch, but I'd prefer they would have tried to get more HEADLIGHTS on the cover!
  7. I never noticed that before. What was Hy Fleishman thinking?! Well it DOES say "Read INSANE" on the cover... Do you think that's insane or insane ??!!! Did you realize you could spell "insane" using the letters in "Fleishman" if you double up the "n"??!!
  8. I never noticed that before. What was Hy Fleishman thinking?!
  9. They should have left the text off this one. "Ghost"?! Looks more like the obligatory MA skeleton to me. Guy has an identity crisis. Plus, if he cuts the rope at where Ben will drop, the hot chick is going to drop also unless he makes two cuts. But wait, he's a "ghost," I guess he has no use for hot chicks. Now, if he admitted he was a skeleton, he could BONE her!
  10. Anti-drunk driving message way back in the 50's ?! I owe this one to a trade with boardie "originalisbest". Thanks!
  11. Is that available in print anywhere currently? Ever read it?
  12. That is a beautiful splash! I love that snake eating the frog, too! I actually saw that happen one time at my uncle's pond when I was about 12. The potbelly guy is a pretty cool, too. I like how he calls it a "haunt!"
  13. Jane has some nice legs! Gonna be hard for her to hoof it in those high heels!
  14. If memory serves me correctly, and it often does not, this one was a Christmas present from a family member...
  15. It is weird, huh? You'd think the best efort would be the cover?!
  16. WoW! This whacked cover could be the proof that the Superior "maple leaf" isn't a maple leaf at all.....
  17. The Devil went down to Georgia, he was lookin' for a dress to peel.....
