  1. Sold my 9.4 for $115 plus shipping. Not bad since it came out of a lot I picked up for $30 that was the full run, 2 copies of #1 plus a copy of the MGC repirint. I should sell the MGC repirint now.
  2. Every sale puts this book further out of reach for me. I'm going to go cry in the corner now.
  3. That's actually a really good point that I hadn't thought of. A little more of that weaving into the underbelly of the Marvel U would have been nice. Even if it was done via proxy or something. Somebody claiming to work for Cap hiring her to get him out of a bit of a tight spot. A date with one of Scott Lang's crew or something. You don't need to mention the connection. Just use the same actor, but as an easter egg or something. Little connections like that.
  4. Not really recent. Marvel's reprint line now is their True Believers (has been for about a year or so)... the Marvels Greatest Comics reprint line was from about 7-10 years ago. This, NYX, and a few others got MGC reprints in the mid-to late-00's. I guess it's relatively recent. It was released in 2010.
  5. Who would have thought 15 years ago that Iron Man would be a heavy hitter at all? He was a 2nd tier character.
  6. I always thought that Garfield was a pretty crappy Peter. He was too cool as Pete. Not enough shy, self-conscious nerd. I thought he was an AWESOME Spider-Man though. IMO, the issues have been that we've had 2 movies with a good Peter and 2 movies with a good Spider-Man. And none of them in the same movies. If Tom Holland could find a way to copy some of what Toby did as Peter in Spidey 1 & 2 and a lot of what Garfield did as Spider-Man in ASM 1 & 2, then I think they could finally get it right.
  7. If it's legit, they probably got a fairly decent deal. But I still am skeptical it is legit. Granted, it could just be a copy/paste description that he changed the title info on, but still... auction in the description for a BIN/OBO item is a bit confusing.
  8. Well, if they had waited longer, they'd have come up with enough material to make an Honest Trailer longer than the movie. And then it just would have been an episode of MST3K
  9. Not for a decade unless Marvel makes a deal to get them back. And Marvel missed their window to make a deal when they rubber stamped Fox's X-Men tv shows without getting anything big back in return. You never know - the two could have something bigger in the works Certainly possible. Might have been a "gesture of good will" on Marvel/Disney's part after the contentious relationship between the 2 companies when Ike was in absolute control. We still aren't sure if this was an Ike-involved decision (since TV side is still under Ike's control) or not. Buuuuttt... we can keep our fingers crossed that something might happen. However, as it stands, Fox got Marvel/Disney's approval for going forward with 2 X-Men tv shows and Marvel/Disney got nothing (outside of their normal $$ cut. Yet).

  11. They didn't even attempt to explain Doom. He was in another dimension for over a year. No other apparent lifeforms, no apparent way for Doom to support his life. So Doom must be some energy-eater who poops ozone. Or sucks on rocks for nutrients. Plus zero explanation of what Doom did for a year, other than wait for them to come back. Then whats he want to do? Stay there... after destroying our dimension of course. Maybe grab a magazine to take back. And how in the world does he just happen to be there when they show up? He's a scientist. Why is he not exploring once he realizes that he doesn't need sustenance or whatever other stuff that they just handwaved away?
  12. That's right out of the comics, although they do tend to overplay it in the films. I assume electricity has always been one of his weapons because electricity itself is one of the most powerful natural forces and controlling it is one of science's greatest achievements, so it fits with a character that's part scientist, part sorcerer. My understanding of his control of electricity has to do with his armor, not as a power. He's a sorcerer but also a crazy mad scientist. I mean that they keep giving him electric powers & not a suit that controls electricity. Granted, I may be wrong that it's like 90% suit for his power over electricity, but I was pretty sure that was the case.
  13. I watched *cough illegally downloaded cough* it last night & I generally agree with Davenport here. Everything that could have been fun or interesting or really made these 4 people feel like they were anything beyond 4 strangers that got stuck in a room at the same time was gone. I kept waiting for the actual plot to start & it just kinda... didn't? And dear sweet jesus on a pogo stick did Doom look even worse in this movie than he did in either of the Tim Story movies. It almost feels like Fox is intentionally getting Doom to look as least Doom-like as possible every time. And why do they keep making him do something with electricity in all these movies?
  14. New York Post, New York Times, Forbes, LA Times, E! and others like that don't really need to rely paid placement. They're already about as close as you can get to go-to sources for journalism & news without paying for placement. And those are the review sources that I specifically mentioned. It's not like I'm cherry-picking the Beaver County Times or the Topeka whatever the hell their newspaper is or some guy's blog. NYT, LA Times, Post, Forbes, E! and all of those are pretty much the definition of mainstream. So we're back to the same point. The mainstream news & review sources pretty much says "it's good" with only a few articles that even give it an "it's ok" and virtually none saying "it sucks". So the mainstream generally thinks it's good. I think it's good. The only place I'm seeing any significant disapproval from is here. Or you could just go search #jessicajones on twitter & see an overall pretty positive response from the peanut gallery.
  15. Can I have every 1st print you own then please? get ready for a LOT of Wildcats comics... No Brigade? Or New Men?
  16. Oh, you mean criticisms in the reviews? As I said, the one said "formulaic". And all of them had little quibbles here & there, but mostly on something that they wish would have been done differently. But for what it was, plot & pacing & story & character wise, they all generally enjoyed it. There's only 2 conclusions that can be drawn from that: That either the reviewers are scared to criticize it (for some undefined reason that I can't quite figure out) or it's a sign that the show was good & mostly solid. I lean towards the latter. You obviously lean towards the former. Neither are absolutely correct.
  17. Of course I have a few criticisms: I thought they could have done some better effects works on her fly/jumping. It just looked a little off. I chalked it up to "she kinda sucks at using her powers" (because she does & admits it), but I just don't think that's how fly/jumping would look. I thought that the annoying neighbor girl could have been entirely removed & the show wouldn't have suffered in the slightest. I thought that it could have had some more humor. There weren't as many dry funny moments as DD showed that dark shows could have. I wish they would drop the indirect references to the MCU and just be direct on these shows. It bugged me a little in DD too. None of them are really make or break issues. They're just minor gripes. The only criticism that I could really have that would be even slightly related to the actual series would have been that I didn't think they portrayed Jessica's powers consistently. I thought she was overpowered at times when she shouldn't have been. But that's about it.
  18. Mainstream or here? Mainstream says "it's awesome" but it doesn't have the same buzz that Daredevil did. However, the boards seem a little split. I personally enjoyed it. Don't expect it to be Daredevil when it's not. DD was a more crime story. This is a psychological drama mixed with revenge & detective noir. They're 2 different animals. It would be like comparing Goodfellas to Payback. What is "mainstream"? Essentially every non-geek-dedicated website that has reviewed it. There's a bunch of articles from LA Times, NY papers, yahoo, Forbes, etc. And the ratings sites like Rotten Tomatoes, MetaCritic, and others. They all seem to say it's good. Literally the only places I've seen negative reviews for it are here. Granted, I haven't looked super hard, but a quick google under news for "Jessica jones reviews" seems overall very positive. That's as "mainstream" as you can get. The worst one of the headlines described it as was "formulaic". Doesn't that strike you as odd? Considering that I enjoyed it and the vast majority of reviewers did too, not really. I also really enjoyed DD & so did the vast majority of reviewers. I also enjoyed most of Marvel's output and so did the vast majority of reviewers. So nothing strikes me odd that people generally enjoyed a thing that I thought was good.

  21. Shred & compost. Then grow another tree with it, cut it, pulp it, print another copy & shred & compost THAT one too!
  22. I guess those people want to keep their jobs @ Marvel or they want to work for them...... Short of killing someone or raping someone or messing with kids, Marvel wouldn't fire Bendis even if he walked in & took a dump on Joe Q's desk.
  23. I still think that Jessica Jones doesn't actually end up with a 2nd season, but gets folded, along with Luke Cage & Iron Fist, into a post-Defenders "Heroes for Hire" series.
