This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!
Brian48 replied to TupennyConan's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
The Kull is from the Don/Maggie T collection. Conan #23 (9.0 W) and #24 (9.2 OW/W) next to their 9.4 and raw brethren. Red Sonja #1. WF #174 9.0ish raw. Tec #392 7.5-8.0ish raw. -
7 actors that could replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

I like Tom Harding. -

I don't normally buy additional books that's below the grade of what I already have, but I made an exception in this case. About $150 for both, the #23 is an old label 9.0 with W pages and looks almost just as good as the Suscha News 9.4 that it's next too. The wrap is perfect. The #24 9.2 with OW/W pages actually looks better than the Twin Cities 9.4. Once again, perfect wrap. I also broke down and finally got a high grade RS#1 to go along with my reader copies.

CLUB OF THE DEMON - The Batman #232 Club
Brian48 replied to Cyclops's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
My first CGC book. Heck, my first comic book period after a 30 years hiatus. Bought almost 3 years ago and set me on the path to gather up the rest of the Adams Bats. -
Dang. Now I got two more books I've got to chase. Brian, you'll need this too. Just came in today. I am absolutely stoked at how nice (and inexpensive) these REH books turned out. It's rare that I actually agree with the seller's raw grades. The JIM #1 is a solid 9.0 if not borderline 9.2, the other two are 9.4s. Now if I can find a decent Chamber of Chills #3 OK. I think I've rounded out my REH collection. Picked up this beautiful raw 9.2-9.4 CoC #3 today.

This Week in Your Bronze Age Collection!!

Too bad the interior can't match it. I have a raw copy of that book. All due respect to Frank Robbins, but I never got into his style. Anyway, my CL winnings came in. Here's BA stuff out of the bunch. Yes, I know. It's PGX. And yes, I know I should have known better. I got lucky once with a PGX and I thought I might get lucky again. Now that I actually have the book, I'd give it a 7.0 or lower. Sure, the front looks OK, but there's stains on the back. I believe the technical term for this book is "POS". I'd crack it out, but I already have a low grade reader. Besides, I'm afraid I'll probably find something else wrong with the book. On the positive side....... I would have given these books at least one, if not two grades higher now that I have them in-hand. Really beautiful. And of course, more Conan by Crom! -

The latter. Nice book. I remember my brother buying that book off the stands as a kid. Since that day, it was alway a race between me and him as to who would grab that week 's Spidey book first. My parents never let us buy the same comic twice. -
OK, maybe not entire intended for comic book purposes, but I thought it was so cool I wanted to share it. This is a pic someone from another forum I frequent posted of his Rugers.

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
Brian48 replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
In all seriousness, for me, it's just like baseball cards. When they became shiny and hi-tech, that's when Copper started. In this case, it was the introduction of Marvel Fanfare #1, the precursor to the modern age. I remember getting my copy and saying to myself "Man, comics has really changed.". Comics (and BB cards) were no longer produced using the cheapest materials and was meant to be collectible versus being a childhood throw away. "Bagging" comics became the norm, although boarding would still take a few years before that became standard practice. It was also around this time I got out of comics. Hard to explain. Some of the stories were still written the same, but comics just had a different feel too them. Speculation mania may have exploded in the '90s, but it started in the '80s. Yeah, I'm rambling about my lost youth. -

Heh. I have a slightly different view. I think BA ended as soon as Miller took over DD and ushered in the newer style of grittier story teller. The would make DD 181 early Copper for me. -

May have to frame them all. Haven't figured out how I'm going to protect them yet. They're to big to fit into a treasury edition bag. -
The sleeve is 12x15.5 and I believe the prints are actually 11x15.

Yeah, I overpaid. Don't care. Would have probably paid more. BWS's best Conan work bar none. #143/1000. I really wanted this portfolio set back in the day, but as a kid, I couldn't afford it. When I could finally afford it as a teen, it was no longer available. Completely forgot about this set for years until I was recently reminded of it a few months ago. Ever since then, I've been searching for complete and an intact set that wasn't messed up with creases or water stains. For some reason, many of these were just not stored properly. Probably because it was so large and unwieldy, much bigger in size than the Treasury Edition comics. Looks like I'm going to have to make a trip out to the arts supply store to find a way to store/display these prints.

Wow. that ST #2 looks great. I've got several mid-grades, but haven't been able to locate a decent 9.0 or higher anywhere. -
