  1. a production micro tear.....luv it......so that's what that is.....whenever i go thru stacks of new comics at da local shop i always go thru about 4 books before i can find 1 that doesn't have that production micro tear..........It makes a big difference a 9.8 to 9.6 ......so a word 2 da wise never ever just take da 1st book in front of u off the rack. Take your time and choose da best looking 1 ....like I do. p.s. i imagine most people on these boards r not still active collector's like I am.... Cause it's all about Key's and Upgrading and not about Comic Book Runs.
  2. I said a 6.0 but that sure looks like foxing and i think its gonna come back below 6.0 .........i think 5.5 is the best it can b.
  3. a 7.0 has minor creases and relatively flat and clean....with some corner blunting...with no obvious staining...or other discoloration.....so i think this drops below that even though the colors are really good. A 6.0 can have moderate creasing which i would believe that corner is. That crease appears to go deep into the book. The front looks really good and the back 2. I'm gonna say 6.5 but where is James Johnson when u need him.....I'm a newbie and i'd ask him.
  4. Normally i'd add up the defects''''rounded corners...cover pulled at staples....looks like tear on back....creased corner on back bottom right.....tics....bottom front left edge has some color break...bottom front right corner has some creases and just give it a 4.0 and move on but the colors are amazing ...front and back ...so i'm gonna say 5.0
  5. good point but that back is so beat up it's hard to get passed it
  6. This is all great info. i read about a collector who said his price point was 75.00 so i went with that when finally i got around to listing and grading my entire collection but i now agree with Glassman....i think 100.00 sounds like a better price point. I've looked into on site grading at conventions vs mailing them off to Sarasota and i think i'm just gonna drive down there and set up a meeting in Sarasota and drop of my books which i want certified. Saving on some shipping and then head down to South Beach . Then i'll just pay to have then shipped back to me. I'm a little nervous about shipping them myself cause i don't know what i'm doing. At 1st i was totally going to have them done ( On Site ) at a comic book convention but they raise the prices and i think there's no guarentee that they will even except your books for on site grading anyways and maybe they send them off to Sarasota anyways. Does any body have any stories about ( On Site ) grading that they have experienced ? Would love to hear them.
  7. the color is amazing and it does just draw u in....there is a lot going on down the front spine and the back to me looks really good but i don't c it getting better than 4.0 i always round down
  8. without seeing the back.....which can b very important....looks like a few tics on the spine.....i think there's some creasing on the bottom edge on the right and appears to be rust migration on the staples...is that a scratch coming out of Spidey's right calf ? It's pretty hard 2 c in the bag. The corners look good and the colors r great. Slight rust migration would put it no higher than a 7.0 i believe ...........Minor rust migration would put it at around 6.0 I would think it is at least that. I would ask James Johnson i bet he know's how to grade a comic based on Rust migration.
  9. with the tear on the back i think it's not better than a 3.0
  10. strike while the Iron is hot.....i just can't get over that this comic got a 2.0
  11. interestingly this book appears 2 b in pretty good shape considering......i like a 2.5...... let us know how it goes if u get it certified and let us know what kind of fixes u tried.
  12. It's a tad off center and the back appears 2 b a little dirty ...a tiny slight crease as u say in top right corner...the spine looks really good...i think there's a little wear on the back spine to a small extent or maybe thats just some dirt...to b a 9.2 i guess it would need to b generally well centered and i'm not sure if this is.....it might b though.... It's very close but it might not be. I'm not sure how much lee-way CGC gives on that front. I mean i guess it's probably a 9.0 but i think the current grading at CGC is quite tough so if it was an 8.5 that wouldn't surprise me......The colors r extremely sharp which i think is why it probably gets a 9.0 but i'm a pessimist at heart so i would expect an 8.5
  13. i always wondered about how many people sit at the table and grade it...sounds like 3 is it. I think thats good so it's not just 1 guy.....thats what i wanted to hear....thanks again
  14. I luv reading your guy's comments .......it's big medicine
  15. this is a hard book to grade 4 me. That bottom left front corner is pretty rough. It look's like it might b tearing around in the back. A 4.0 seems pretty harsh but i think that a possibility. The T in Thor really took a shot so i wonder if that penetrated inside the front cover.
  16. this is a 4th printing... r u thinking of getting it certified ?
