CLINK Auction is ending, anyone win anything?
thedude replied to batman_fan's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
very nice looking copy Matt, congrats. and I agree on the "prepared to set a new high price", I still can't believe what the Batman #1 (2.0 sl/brittle) went for when compared to what it sold for just two years ago over on Heritage. -
I don't have the book in hand at the moment, here is an old photo I took of the book next to a lower grade Action #48, ( I at one time had 4 copies I think). the scan probably does make the edge browning look worse. perhaps my settings are off, I am a newbie to Vuescan.

I thought this was a very good price for a 2.5 with tape along the spine. looks nice otherwise. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-GD-2-5-Off-White-to-White-/232730482846?hash=item362fd1589e%3Ag%3A~nkAAOSwP8lazi4X&nma=true&si=UuyHtePCHhPSQqT60v5RuROGQFA%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

after 13 years on these boards, finally got a legal size scanner, thanks to this thread went with the HP 7400c and of course Vuescan. example.

I actually like to negotiate as a buyer or seller, If I'm buying, and we can't come to an agreed price, then I keep my money and look for a better deal/book elsewhere, (which always happens anyway) If I'm selling, and we can't come to an agreed price, then I keep the book and wait for another buyer who pays my asking price (which doesn't seem to take very long) or I keep the book and wait for it to appreciate even more. so it's a win/win/win.

Action 1 Cgc 8.5 white in next CC auction
thedude replied to G.A.tor's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
this is the former old label 8.5 "Rusted staples" ow/white right? I mean it's got the same two little specks by the "N" in Action. -
not just that, but a higher grade, pedigree copy with better PQ TEC 27 came in second banana to the lower grade, non pedigree, Cream-off-white pages Action #1. What's going on here? is Batman slipping? perhaps it's the less than favorable portrayal of Batman in the Justice League movie. ( he said in his best Comic Connoisseur voice.). lol!

really? I hadn't heard about this sale.

Dr. Manhattan, no drawbacks other than being naked all time. -
this was my understanding as well, just like there were (3?) print runs of Superman #1, with small differences between the print runs. although the market hasn't shown any favorability to either printings.

Bat #1 up to $70k

You should post a pic if you can.

and Lois.

just thought I'd throw another comparison between the 2 books together. as we remember, this 1.5 Cap #1 sold Dec 7, 2017 on Comic Connect for $70k https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=746661 and this 1.5 Bat #1 (brittle pages) sold one week later (Dec 15, 2017) with an accepted offer on eBay of $85k. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BATMAN-1-CGC-1-5-Unrestored-1st-Appearance-of-Joker-and-Catwoman-1940-GORGEOUS-/391805790631?hash=item5b3971e9a7%3Ag%3AkQIAAOSwblZZNKZa&nma=true&si=UuyHtePCHhPSQqT60v5RuROGQFA%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 however, the 1.5 Bat #1 did have much better eye appeal than the 1.5 Cap #1. so with this comparison, I would say that Bat #1 is still a little ahead in FMV than Cap #1. but they are very close and I would say that it really depends on how the books present, will be fun to watch the current 3.5 copies.

sounds like Smallville "part 2", but I'll give it a shot.

first Joker and Catwoman, and I like the cover.
