  1. Impossible to grade. They have to be removed if you want to peoperly grade them or send them to CGC. An incredible find none the less.
  2. The best thing to do is make the comic as desireable to you as possible. If you would live to own a book signed by Moore, then do it. Dont think of others, just think of yourself. Because if you end up with something you think to be awesome, odds are you wont be the only one who thinks so. Ps: cgc has to recieve your submission in 10 days so I would get started on that right now.
  3. I will be sending some books off for pressing or grading or both. Want to make these posts here first so that we can see how they turn out later.

  6. Joking aside, would a sig really add that much more value to a 9.9?
  7. This incident is in no way an indicator of whether or not CBCS has higher standards since you forfeited those standards when you cracked the case for a signing. No way to know how this book would have faired if it was initially sent to CGC instead of CBCS. Paying more for CGC could have resulted in the same loss of grade (and thus loss of more money) Your case tells us more what can happen during a signing, not which company grades tougher.
  8. I don't see how the buyer is at fault, the description is lacking. You don't even mention the rusted staples. I will admit it is greedy of the buyer to request more money back but then you could say that they can simply return the book. However, of course, that will make it more costly for you.
  9. I finally wrote that long due post. This has nothing to do with CBCS vs CGC, it's all about people not knowing the risks. It takes almost nothing for a 9.8 to be a 9.6 and yet people send them out for someone else to crack a slab, pull out a book from a sealed sleeve, put it in a window box and pass it around for someone to pres a pen on.
  10. I don't think this anecdotal evidence of a signing is any indication one way or another. If one wanted to see if they were more strict, they would have to send 30 CGC 9.8s to CBCS to see how they come back and send 30 CBCS 9.6s to CGC to see how they come back and infer on the results. I have seen enough complaints this past week alone to say that grade retention at a signing is absolutely not guaranteed. It is very likely your CBCS 9.8 was also a CGC 9.8 but after handling it for the signing it became a CGC 9.6. Especially if you sent it in slabbed and didn't do the window box yourself. Any extra handling will increase the chances of your grade being lowered, even if pressed afterwards. If you have a 9.8 and absolutely don't want it to lower in grade, then don't send it to a signing.
  11. The darker lines are the frame for the ad on the inner cover that you can see through the cover. The lighter line is my scanner.
  12. Ok, so I had an opportunity to own a Master Comics 25 within my budget and it now came in. It is slabbed by voldy, I bought it that way (very few copies out there known to exist, I couldnt be too picky) and the person who slabbed it didn't press it. When held up this book has markings all over it like it was under a paper that someone wrote on. A press would have done wonders. Plus, a small amount of colour touch was found and thus this is considered a restored book (slight amateur). I am trying to figure out where this colour touch is. By passing a light over it, nothing is apparent aside from a rub found on the lower right. But it doesn't look like something I would call a colour touch so I am not sure if this is what they are referring to. And if it is, I don't know if CGC would call it that as well, or if this book would get a blue label with CGC even if there was slight colour touch (there is a treshold where for these kinds of books, some slight colour touch will not get purple). So basically, I got this beautiful book and I want it to shine as well as it can, be the most it can be and I am not too sure what I should do next. Any help is welcome.
