  1. Let's talk about what constitutes first appearances. I'm willing to say Jimmy Olsen 135 has a cameo Darkseid appearance. The hill I will die on is the face in 1 panel of JO134 is Darkseid in name only. One of the few DC keys I own b/c of Kirby. Biggest potential issue I see is what looks like some yellowing of the paper around the edges, especially the back
  2. wrap is off on this one two, but less so than the direct edition. 9.2 or better.
  3. FWIW, I don't like to put my guess in my posts to avoid biasing the jury. I also try not to look at other people's grades although I occasionally scroll too far and see one. I don't see any significant defects, so >9.2 is reasonable. There's a slight miswrap, which is production related & shouldn't affect the grade, but I have seen evidence that this might not always be the case.
  4. The discoloration of the white areas and a few spots in Loki's head & under "herois" put this in the 4.0/4.5 in what otherwise might have been 5ish or maybe a shot at 6.0.
  5. Unfortunate about the very noticeable damage since otherwise it presents pretty well, and these are tough ones to find. At least in the US. 3.0/3.5
  6. Some foxing on the back and the corners of the spine are a little dinged. There is a light reader's crease, which it's less clear to me how to weight b/c of the nature of the binding. I give it a 9.0 with the caveat that the crease could dock it another grade or 2. A cool book though.
  7. 9.0 is too high. Whatever is in the title box, maybe ink transfer? is puts this in more like the 7.0/7.5 range for me. If that wasn't there, or if it was something removable, I could see a charity 9.0 for a book this age. More likely without it, 8s. Still a nice copy if the price is write. My guess is that it's a 7.0 with an >9.0 ask tho....
  8. I'm more like a 7.0 based on the spine stress, which looks similar to the condition of one of my 7.0s. Maybe a 7.5 pressed with the CGC bias for Spidey.
  9. Not to be a broken record, but I've got 6.0 on this one too. Back cover could use a clean to maximize potential. Maybe bump it up.
  10. My first though was 5.0/5.5, but I've been giving that out a lot lately, so take that FWIW.
  11. 5.0/5.5, just a little worried about the discoloration of the back cover. Hopefully, you can get it cleaned up a bit.
  12. My bad. I don't think that changes things much in my grade assessment, but the GA books are kind of a mystery to me. For example, you got some rust transfer from the staples (I think) and that would get hammered with something newer, but it might not result in as big a deduction for a book from this era. There are definitely folks that check in here who are more experienced with GA books.
  13. Detached cover gets about a 3.0 & the rest of the damage is consistent with that grade. Maybe the discoloration knocks it down another grade, but I've seen much worse looking 2.5s. Looks quite great for an 80-year-old.
  14. Sounds like it could be a subscription crease. Pull out a good example and post front and back photos for the best evaluation
  15. Nice book I've got a fresh $20 bill that should more than cover the 12¢ cover price. Even though that's a small piece out, this strikes me as a class example of the interior damage not mattering at the grade that the rest of the book is. I see what is some staining or something above the green foot center/left, and IDK what that soiling is on the upper part of the inside cover. I think you're looking at a 5.0/5.5 after C/P.
  16. You'll have to take it out of the polybag first. I would make a large bet there's a polybag crease going down the center of the back cover.
  17. Lots of photos are great, but I would find it easier to grade if there was a squared/top down photo of the cover(s) to start. It's harder to keep track of the overall quality and know what to focus on in the close-ups.
  18. From Oct 2022 JRJR. 13-year-old JRJR has a creator credit on the title page for the Prowler, but the label does not include this piece of comic history
  19. Here it is. Everyone was close or spot on. I'm certain the cover staining is what dictated the grade. Fortunately, it's not that noticeable unless you're inspecting it. I can't kind equate this grade (which seems accurate) with the Iron Fist 14 that also got a 5.5, sent before I knew how much CGC hated stains. IF14 has a small stain on the front & light staining on one edge of the back, but the ASM has at least equivalent staining and some other conditions issues I could have sworn that I made the window for the signature above Spidey's back, but it's nice. With all the mundane stuff that CGC puts on some labels, I do not understand why JRJR's first comic credit of any kind is not mentioned.
  20. Looking to see if my pre-submission take on this one matches the community. It was pressed after these photos. Sorry about the thumb shadow on the one image.
  21. 1.8/2.0. 2.5 on a really good day for a grader
