  1. Some recent acquisitions. The Uncannys were rescued from the dollar bin!
  2. (this is an Alan Davis cover) My favorite of McFarlane's Bats covers is BY FAR Detective #577. Far more beautiful and poignant, in my opinion, than Batman #423.
  3. Bendis' Alias series is fantastic. I was also highly impressed with the first season of the show, and that season is my favorite of all the Netflix Marvel series. Jessica Jones Season Two, though...?
  4. For most of you to say that an entire page defaced from top to bottom with a foreign substance would still net a 5.0 just seems crazy to me.
  5. With ink that unsightly right on the front cover, I'm not surprised at all by that grade.
  6. Also, no surprises on the grades, which were about what I expected. THANK GOODNESS.
  7. Same. Did so last week. My order is officially in the black hole.
  8. Marked as "shipped" today. That's a 7-day TAT!
  9. A year! To smoosh a book! Oy
  10. Yes, it's totally possible that they are caught up. When I checked the TAT page late yesterday or earlier today, I think the notice indicated packages were being opened from just a couple of days ago. So that would indicate to me they are caught up. Which is really great, because maybe then those package-opening resources can be used to speed up other areas of the process (e.g. encapsulation).
  11. Yeah, I've had books in G/E/I for up to 6 weeks before.
  12. It's standard operating procedure for production defects (such as miswraps, centering, etc.) to cause a huge dip in grade when grading trading cards. This makes me wonder if card graders crossed over into the comic realm and are imposing the card standards on to the comics they are reviewing.
  13. Took a trip and naturally had to stop by the local shop. Found all these in the dollar bin. Biggest score was by far the Brubaker Cap #5 from 2012.
  14. "...in no event will CGC's determination of current Fair Market Value exceed the declared value listed by the submitter on the CGC Submission Form." This contradicts them saying they will bump up the tier if they feel the declared value is too low. That is a direct contradiction, and makes no sense. Another interpretation may be that they will use their FMV to bump the tier and charge you more than you expected, but will not use that same FMV to then cover you for that amount in the case of loss/damage, which is 100% unfair. If you're going to bump up the value, then you have to insure it for that same value that you just appraised it as. You can't have it both ways, saying it's worth more for the sake of grading, but not if they misplace it.
  15. *raises hand* Also waiting on Economy from September. Current TAT for Economy comes to about 11 months (taking into consideration that their TATs are BUSINESS days), so that means I shouldn't expect my books back until August CCS is also about 11 months, so those submitting Economy with press won't see their books for nearly 2 years. How is this a good business model? 2 years??
  16. I wouldn't want my books being the ones graded at 3AM.
  17. I've always love this one for its sci-fi take on the Gothic "girl running from castle" trope (which Neal did to perfection on HoS #88).
  18. I agree, Adams' Superboy covers are fantastic, and criminally overlooked. I'd say his Superboy and House of Mystery/Secrets covers (often featuring two children making a discovery) are my favorite.
