  1. THIS is the kind of information I was looking for. Thanks. If making them smaller saved paper/money, I wonder what made them revert back circa 2002 (using your estimate).
  2. I was just wondering if anybody was knowledgeable about companies' production dimensions during time periods. I know it's a really niche topic! I didn't mean to imply there was any value, etc. Just as silver age books are a different size in width from current books, these struck me due to their change in height. I compared them to a Marvel comic released this week, and these FFs are significantly shorter than that issue as well, meaning at some point Marvel made their books "taller," and once again consistent with other books being released by other companies. Maybe for a period they went with another printing company that produced books of the smaller size. I'm genuinely curious! Again, I realize this is niche and most of you are rolling your eyes thinking "so what," but I'm just taking a chance there's somebody knowledgeable about this on these forums. If you don't care and have no input, then please move on and enjoy your day
  3. As I was rebagging my newsstand copies of FF Vol. 3 # 34 & 35, I noticed they looked odd in the bag, as if the dimensions were off. I compared them to other books, and sure enough they are substantially shorter. While only slightly shorter than my newsie of Spider-Man #72 (1st pic), there is a noticeable difference when compared to Peter Porker #11 (also newsstand), and Adv. of Superman #570 (newsstand). I don't have a direct edition of the FFs handy, but do have the run (buried somewhere) and don't remember them being of different dimensions. Does anybody have any insight regarding these print run dimensions?
  4. No movement on mine from September 9/28/21 ECONOMY Scheduled for Grading
  5. I store them the same as, but separate from, the others in my collection. Never had an issue with "having them sit vertically back to back." These separate books are pretty much the "waiting line" for CGC. Keys valued less than about $150 are just filed with the rest of the collection, but double-boarded if worth over $50 and in higher grade.
  6. THANK YOU. All of this. It seems to me that both CGC *and* the customers would benefit from an online reference to members' financial accounts, including past/current charges, payments made, and credits (promotional and otherwise) applied to an account. Nearly every other company that does major online business has this financial transparency .
  7. Not to mention seriously dates the book! So much for "Marvel Time" if Peter Parker met The Beatles and President Obama At the risk of going off-topic, remember when Cap fought a serpentine Reagan? LMAO "Newsie" cover provided in a poor attempt to connect to OP:
  8. Ditto that. All my Golden Age are just in Magazine Boxes. Those in Mylar fit in the Mag boxes quite nicely
  9. Got confirmation on my selection for the books handled by CCS (I opted to have them returned raw). Hopefully they will be shipped back soon. The books I wanted to be graded and not pressed are currently in QC! Hooray
  10. Recent acquisitions! Most are 9.0+, I would estimate. The ASM (date: Jan 2006) is a price variant, I noticed. Most recent Adv. of Superman is cover dated September 2004.
  11. Ok, so I won't rush to dig mine out for submission to CGC then LOL
  12. No, it's not. "Value" submissions are so old, it's not even a category anymore
  13. While Akira's legacy is enduring, I don't see any reason for a sudden spike, but who knows. As for print run, while I don't have exact numbers, it's my understanding that the final issues had an EXTREMELY low print run.
  14. That's really, really crazy. I want to know which eccentric oligarch is buying these.
  15. Did the graders' notes indicate that at least part of the reason it graded as 8.5 was because of the gatefold line? I only ask because there may have been other contributing factors.
  16. Stop, you'll get me hopeful that my books will be back to me soon. No change in status on my submissions page Still "scheduled for grading."
  17. I got an email today as well, identical to the one I was told was for just the books that were not going to be pressed. So, I'm assuming they are now getting to the books that were scheduled to be pressed. The first email for non-pressed books was marked as "B16" in the subject header; this one that went out today was marked as "B57." The body of both emails appears to be identical. The good news is that once I replied to "B16", my submission status was updated later that same day. Hopefully that will be the case with "B57"!
  18. Hopefully my sub from September won't be far behind :/
