  1. What are you going on about? Yes, when Keaton was announced in the role, it was a laughing stock. Then the film came out and many audience members' jaws dropped in awe at the dark look and gothic art direction. And it became a huge hit, finally (largely) replacing pop culture's image of Batman as "POW! ZAP! HOLY CAMPINESS, BATMAN!" You didn't like it. Okay. Does it hold up as a great movie? It never was great in my eyes. Yet you are painting it as a goofy romp by somebody that would just as soon put Batman in a dress(?), citing that it must have been an embarrassment to O'Neil, Miller, et. al. citing no evidence to that effect.
  2. Thanks for that link! @shadroch I wasn't "fighting over" anything, which I why I prefaced my comment with "To my knowledge." I wasn't stating what I said as fact. Given the first couple pages of the Whitman threat, this seems to be a very controversial and mysterious topic.
  3. Looks like an excellent candidate for a press.
  4. To my knowledge, these are not "Whitman variants." They are early Direct Sales editions. As the direct market was in its infancy at that time, I would imagine the print run of these is much lower than the Newsstand version at the time.
  5. After over a month in G/E/I, FINALLY some movement! !! RECEIVED: 6/28/21 3 565 ECONOMY Grading/Quality Control
  6. You are aware that there are people of Southeast Asian descent living in America, yes?
  7. Yeah, there was a shop near me (no longer open) that had bargain bin books in a safe nook, but a display case of keys right at the window by the entrance (not IN the window, but on the wall perpendicular to it). All were blanched by sun fade.
  8. Your magazine hit G/E/I before your comics?! That's a minor miracle!
  9. Yay! More reason to be optimistic about my December Standard submission!
  10. This gives me great hope for my Standard submission, which was received/SFG on 12/29/21 Though current stated TAT for Standard is 73 business days, or over 3 months
  11. I have a sub from June that's also been stuck in G/E/I for a month or more and I'm starting to sweat a little
  12. THANK YOU for this question and answer! I've been sweating over this very thing. Tracker on the home page indicates the box of GP submissions was received, despite the books not being logged in, so I guess I can breathe easy
  13. Who knows. I had two copies of ASM vol. 2 #36 (the all-black 9/11 tribute issue) come back to me, one graded 9.6 and the other 9.8. Looking at them very, very closely, the 9.6 actually looks better to me.
  14. Add my voice to the "keep it" chorus. The upper edge crease and spine creases are all color-breaking. Those and the foxing will not be fixed by a clean and press. Very nice 7.0 regardless! Congrats!
  15. Yeah, OP, check out that link above for many, many more examples of people receiving their books back from CGC with similar - or far worse - pieces of plastic entombed with their book.
  16. Lots of people, myself included, have been saying this since the start. "oops, this graded high, so we get to/'have to' charge you more." No conflict of interest there at all. Nope. Nothing to see here.
  17. Very weird that Beckett's initial review is that it's not genuine, as this looks like the real deal to me. I was really considering sending Voldy a number of books I got signed in person, but this makes me have my doubts about doing so I've been getting books signed in-person at conventions/store appearances for decades, and since CGC doesn't verify signatures, I was literally going to get a membership with the Distinguished Competition just to get those books encapsulated - but only if they were designated as having a legitimate autograph.
  18. Yeah, I've been concerned about my submissions for the Perez signing, as they haven't been logged in yet, and the deadline for receipt is the end of the month. Post office, however, says the package was delivered.
  19. I'm wondering this as well. I just pulled a CGC candidate from my collection that looks immaculate except for the stacking bend near the spine.
  20. I just use a Word document for a brief record, an an Excel sheet for more info like grade and notes (first appearances, grading notes, signatures, etc).
