TAR #39 is just an awesome cover. More and more I notice the body language Baker gives his characters, particularly in his later St. John covers ('54-'55). The body language here is *fantastic*, with her relaxed and confident, him trying to strike a pose but somewhat nervous and uncertain under the surface. I don't recall them being great literature, but Dell/ Western always demanded a minimum level of basic storytelling competence that was far greater than a lot of the other Golden Age publishers. Add Matt Baker art and I think they qualify as good, and more readable and enjoyable than I find the Baker romance stories.
