At the theater to see Oppenheimer. They have a ton of tmnt displays (have tickets to see it on July 29th) but um why does Donny have Leo’s swords?

image.jpg

In mutant mayhem, Donny has glasses and a deeper purple, what your seeing is dark blue Leo.

Thanks! Looked like the old purple.  Works for me.

No problem! Hope you enjoyed Oppenheimer!

I'm currently still trying to get prescreen tickets to tmnt, although it looks to all take place Saturday July 29th across town, and I may end up sleeping in lol

The only showing by me is July 29th at 2.  Regardless, I got them and looking forward to it.

Looks like Nickelodeon just got the rights to all episodes from 1987-1996 of the Ninja Turtles.

Let's hope it means they will air reruns sometime in the future.

Yes, it is going up on Pluto TV (and presumably Paramount Plus) by the end of this month.  Nick gets it later this year, and then international channels as well.  This is wonderful news, and now, they just need to get the rights to the original movies to have the whole oeuvre.

What a terrific event this turned out to be!  The only downside was that other commitments kept a few boardies who were planning on going away.  My goal with this post is to show how much fun this event was so hopefully more people will go next time.

*Note* I had some other pictures, but some of them got imported to the site upside-down and no matter what I did, I couldn't fix them, so I left them out.

First off, I'd highly recommend getting tickets in advance.  I was there when the gates opened at 6 and they were already sold out!

To my great surprise, one of the first things I saw when I walked around was TMNT artist Chris Allan was set up as a special guest, signing, sketching, and selling prints.  :whatthe:  This was NOT advertised very well...I still don't see it on the Mahoning site and after talking to Chris, I can see that it was talked about a little on facebook.  What a pleasant surprise.  I'd have come more prepared had I known.

IMG_3261.thumb.jpg.949bdbc35e65b180a01cfeab224ed209.jpgIMG_3270.thumb.jpg.56b3c784e958f3a575e56db63c0cd631.jpg

Chris sketched well into the night.  They set up some lighting and the guy finally wrapped up around 1am about 2/3 through Secret of the Ooze.

IMG_3272.thumb.jpg.102c5d6a513adc89e611ee4fa91ab140.jpg

Walking around more, they had some local vendors selling vintage TMNT toys and other merch as well as some original decorative art featuring the TMNT.

There were SO MANY cool TMNT shirts that people were wearing.  Even saw a few Caseys and Aprils walking around...though I didn't get pictures of them.

Then I went into the concession stand area and they had a TV playing episodes from the '87 cartoon and they were selling merch.  This drive-in usually makes custom merch for each event...generally a poster and a shirt along with standard Mahoning Drive-In stuff like magnets, pins, etc.  They even leave the doors open so you can see the film and reels they use.  The whole concept of this place is they exclusively use 35mm film.

They had a raffle.  Tickets were a dollar...winner takes all.  There was a LOT of TMNT stuff on offer.  The image came in upside-down, but I feel compelled to show it.  Neca Casey Jones figure, huge Super Shredder Funko, free movie tickets, and CGC slab (Godzilla vs MMPR, but it had TMNT on the back cover), and quite a few other goodies.

IMG_3280.thumb.jpg.acfe54efb080069414e465abbb78d557.jpg

Around 9:15pm, the first movie started.  Despite a lot of rain in the area recently, we had beautiful weather for a drive-in movie. It was probably 85 degrees when I got there and low 60's when I left around 1:15am.

IMG_3274.thumb.jpg.c723a75d4f7d05e2fdc8561118827fec.jpg

I didn't expect there to be such a haul (to use comic con terms), but here we go.  I was able to get one of the event T-Shirts.  About 90 minutes before the movie, they were down for just S, M, and 3XL left.  By the time the movie started, they were sold out.  If you want these in the future, make sure you get one early.

IMG_3297.thumb.jpg.069bdbfd3fb8bef3800002ceca1a82f7.jpg

Admittedly, I was hoping the event poster would look like some of the others they do where they make it look like a campy 50's movie regardless of when the movie is actually from, but I still got it:

IMG_3298.thumb.jpg.3b5f85269d7160ad0e22d5ce25cae3ac.jpg

Chris Allan had prints and some pre-drawn sketch cards.  I picked up some of each:

IMG_3299.thumb.jpg.a73be5e1235a98fd28ccc0321a248838.jpg

He was even doing sketches:

IMG_3300.thumb.jpg.b67a6174a794fb0006201959572f5e49.jpg

And finally, he was selling Ashcans to the Forever War story from TMNT Adventures.

IMG_3302.thumb.jpg.fe59473d8d43a0dce016c9a8777099c8.jpg

Long story short, it was a great event.  Hopefully they'll do it again next year for the 40th anniversary! :wishluck:

That's a lot of fun, I'd appreciate it " more" lol if I was local, but glad you found the time and the weather was nice! Hope the enjoyment of company and immersing in the tmnt brought joy to all! :) wish I'd have been there for sure

I've got a couple of passes to a prescreen here in Grapevine, Texas for this today the 26th at something like 7pm, for the new TMNT cartoon movie "Mutant Mayhem".

I'd happily email them to any interested that can attend, as it is 1st come 1st serve and you'd need to find your way there to line up early enough to get in. I have plans most Saturday mornings and won't be able to go myself. There are 2 passes and each one is for 2 people, so possibly a total of 4people could go!

Very awesome of you to offer that! If I lived locally I'd have sent you an email immediately!

How nostalgic!  I watched that tape so many times when I was a kid, I bet my parents could recite the episodes word-for-word.

Spoiler

There has been a correction in the timing, I knew the prescreen was happening 2 places, so I got confused, the passes available are for tonight, the correction.

I might end up actually going to the one Saturday, as it is closer to home.

Edit to say lol glad I was corrected and no one had claimed yet, it would have been a mess up, my bad guys. There were two screenings, and I assumed, shame on me. Tonight 7pm grapevine, 11am for the other, which I may go to the latter undecided 😂

all summed up for today. the time is past :)
