Either the buyer of the 5.5 on Comic Connect got a nice deal or the CLink 4.0 buyer above over-shot current value. The CC copy is a really good looking book. alexgross.com and RetiredOldMan

UncleBEN
Pretty strong result here , and apologies if this has already been shared. 9.0 OW-W $490K and pretty sure its the same book offered to me a couple years ago for significantly less. https://www.comicconnect.com/item/942023 Pretty clear trend on this book, if you do not have a copy I would get in while you still can. Some sellers during this type of situation get luckier and some not as much. Sell after all is said and done if you intend to sell not in the middle of a price increase of a hot book. Sure you can gamble and hope to get the top of the top price during the rush. Some buyer stick with certain auction houses as well by habit. I know I have never purchased from CC not because of anything bad just by habit. The 5.0 just sold for 60k on heritage. So yeah, somebody definitely just got a killer deal on the 5.5 on comicconnect. Maybe the sale of the 9.0 juiced this auction. -J. RetiredOldMan

So now the "buyer perception" has swung from "highly suspect Auction houses" to "dealer sales are more realistic"? Show me the "money" has become the end of 2021 Comic selling theme. We pay the highest might get replaced by "We pay the highest for our own material" PKJ

They are the top 2 books of the entire silver age that means something. in case you arent reading this thread, a lovely 5.5 just sold for 36k on comicconnect last week. the heritage sale for 60k is indeed quite suspect as @PKJ stated. no one is arguing that SA major keys are not hot. but not this hot. But in the interim a 0.5 sold for 7500 and a 2.5 sold for 16k. That's in addition to the blockbuster 9.0 sale. So either the 5.5 buyer got a helluva deal right before a huge spike or the 5.0 buyer overpaid. -J.

It takes at least 2 people to bid up the auction (unless they are the same person I suppose). Did anyone see the bidder list? Can you see how many "different" bidders are bidding it up at the end? Side note a 2.0 sold for $20,251 on CL on 5-26, so the right copies have sold for good money all year. Edited December 20, 2021 by PKJ
Popular Post farrran
The AF15 and the IH1 from HA last night were both mine. I've recently become disabled and needed to pay off my home. I sent my top 15 books to HA and they put up 13 of them between yesterday and today. They were all keys so I was hoping they would do well but did not expect them to do this well. The AF15 was won on a live bid and the IH1 must have had at least two bidders as there was a mix of live bid and online bids with an online bid winning it. I am not that familiar with the process but hopefully that clears some questions up. DC#
I posted these a bit earlier on the thread but these were the results from the last Nov ComicLink and Hakes auctions. CL results were: 4.0 - $28.4k 2.5 - $17.3k Hakes 3.0 - $19.7k vs GPA sales of $26.4k on 10/24, $20k on 9/18, and $27.5k on 8/18 2.0 - $13.1 vs GPA sale of $14.4k on 9/19 and $14.3 on 8/1 Very few sales over past 12 months on GPA for this book in any grade (1 in 5.0, 1 in 4.5, 1 in 4.0, 8 in 3.0, 4 in 2.5, 7 in 2.0) so it seems like sold prices can bounce around quite a bit. If you look at a 3.0 it has had big swings between sales - assume the visual appeal had an influence on some of these numbers.
