I was looking thru a few books today and was surprised by how much The Batman had changed in just the first year! Pics in order from Action #12, cover of Detective #32 and last Batman story page of Detective #36. I don't think I'd ever done a side-by-side comparison before.

If it was this 3.0 and went up to a 4.5  why does the 3.0 not have the letter S after the word Detective 0530814D-2CFF-4101-BB71-A5F81B01DFEB.jpeg

That's because you are thinking of 2 different copies here.  :gossip:

One is the 3.0 graded copy that got bumped up to a 3.5 and the second one is a CGC 4.5 graded copy with the "S" mark that got bumped up to a 5.0 graded copy.  (thumbsu

28,30,32,34 (even numbers are a lot less expensive)

28 not in blue

your copy would it be a blue label in that grade would easily be an 80k book

The spine is split half way up, so I'd say 1.8 to 2.0, but a really nice presenting copy.

I was thinking something like 1.5 to 1.8 myself after some "prep work" to get rid of some of the waves, with that sizable split the biggest problem. (thumbsu

The reason I didn't go as low as 1.5 is the spine is still partially together. I've seen comics present as nice as this one with the cover completely split get a 1.5.

I say 3.0 and it should look really nice after dry cleaned.

So 46,000. That is high. I suppose maybe after some cleaning and flattening it's not too high. I just found the lot, # 1205. Couldn't save the photos but it's really not that bad and that doesn't look like a spine split, just the cover half detached.  It is described as spine split but from that pic to me it looks like just the cover.

It looks like the cover has some really strong and bright color too. Not bad.

Sorry, but not with half the spine split.

You definitely know more than me about these but if you could look at the last photo in the auction link. Are the pages split or just the cover?

Looks 2.0/2.5 to me. Sold for fmv in my opinion.

Well, from the $39K winning hammer bid, it would work out to somewhere between $44K to $46K depending upon both your method of payment and timing of your bid.  I guess this would be FMV since I still remember a CGC 3.0 graded copy selling for $66,010 in a CC Event Auction back in the Spring of 2017.  (thumbsu

Not sure about the possible grade of 2.5 since without having the actual book in hand, but it would be pretty tough for me to see the difference between equivalent graded CGC 2.5 copies from strictuly a visual POV even if my life depended upon it:  (:

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Action Comics #1 (DC, 1938) CGC GD+ 2.5 Cream to off-white pages. The comic that officially launched the Golden Age rightful...

I guess the CVA/QES superior quality sticker must have fallen off this copy of Action Comics 1.    :fear:lol

Golden Age (1938-1955):Superhero, Green Lantern #30 (DC, 1948) CGC GD+ 2.5 Cream to off-white pages....

Now, this is an example of a rare HTF low grade beauty that I'll take all day long any day of the week for under $200 or thereabouts.  :luhv:  :takeit:
