Batman: Arkham Knight delayed to 2015, but features one badass Batmobile

It’s a good news, bad news sort of day for Bat-fans.

The Dark Knight’s next game, the open-world Batman: Arkham Knight for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, has been officially pushed out of 2014 and given a vague 2015 release date. Developer Rocksteady Games, who hit it out of the park with the prior two Arkham games, wants more time to get Arkham Knight up to speed.

"Batman: Arkham Knight is totally awesome," producer Dax Ginn told reporters in May. "The thing about awesome, though, is awesome takes time."

That would be the bad news.

On the other hand, a new gameplay trailer released today shows off some of that awesome in the form of a Batmobile that transforms into a tank:

If things get a little too hot, players can engage 'Battle Mode', outfitting the Batmobile with cannons, missiles, and non-lethal suppression rounds (pretty sure those missiles are lethal, though).

The Batmobile's Battle Mode joins a growing list of interesting new features coming to Arkham Knight. Batman can eject himself out of the Batmobile and soar across Gotham, said to be five times bigger than the version in Arkham City. He’s got loads of new moves and gadgetry and even a new nemesis in the eponymous Arkham Knight, developed in conjunction with D.C. Comics specifically for the game. Though the Arkham Knight technically works alongside The Scarecrow, he commands a vast military force -- and as seen in the recently released gameplay trailer, is quite the match for the Caped Crusader.

Gamers miffed that it’s been pushed back can take solace in the kid-friendly arms of Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, which at the moment is still due out this fall.

Asking for ideas on what games to get on the ps3 via download.

I always used to buy my games on disk...but over the last several months, I've started downloading games for my PS3 when they've gone on sale in the PlayStation Store (many of them I haven't even played yet). I've kept a running total which I've listed below.

These are the games I've purchased and downloaded along with the sale prices I got them for:

  • LittleBigPlanet.................................................................Free (when Sony's online service went down)
  • inFAMOUS......................................................................Free (when Sony's online service went down)
  • inFAMOUS 2...................................................................$9.99
  • inFAMOUS Festival of Blood...........................................$2.49
  • Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition...............................$5.99
  • L.A. Noire with Rockstar Pass.........................................$10.48
  • Red Dead Redemption....................................................$7.49
  • Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare....................$4.99
  • Bully (PS1 Classic)..........................................................$2.49
  • Tomb Raider (PS1 Classic).............................................$3.99
  • Tomb Raider II (PS1 Classic)..........................................$2.49
  • Tomb Raider III (PS1 Classic).........................................$2.49
  • Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (PS1 Classic)...........$2.49
  • Tomb Raider: Underworld................................................$5.99
  • BioShock..........................................................................$9.99
  • BioShock 2.......................................................................$9.99
  • Crysis...............................................................................$9.99
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum.................................................$13.99
  • Batman: Arkham City.......................................................$19.99
  • Batman: Arkham Origins..................................................$27.99

These are some of the disk based games I've bought on sale from Amazon with free shipping:

  • Metal Gear Solid 4..........................................................Free (came with my PS3)
  • God of War Saga Collection (includes 5 games)............$39.96 (can get this for under $20 now)
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception......................................$15.00
  • Gran Turismo 5 XL Edition..............................................$10.00

  • The ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection...........$9.99
  • Prince of Persia...............................................................$19.80
  • Journey Collector's Edition (includes 3 games)..............$14.99

These are some games I've got my eye on to purchase for download:

  • Limbo (have read good things about this one)
  • Bioshock Infinite (as soon as the price for the download comes down)
  • Deadspace
  • Deadspace 2
  • Deadspace 3
