just over $14K (shrug)

Not surprising unfortunately. It's the problem with auctions versus fixed price; with fixed you only need ONE interested buyer, with auctions you need at least TWO... you often need a heck of a lot more than that. I would NEVER put a high-priced rare error book on auction.

Right book, right place, right time... big win.

If you're talking about the GL #87, it may be a big windfall for the seller, but it should have sold for more. There are 36 9.8s out there but probably only ONE double cover. A regular 9.8 sold for just over $14.5k in November...this should have went for $20-25K.

I've been looking for an affordable copy in the fine range for a long time. It wouldn't be the 1st time a book took off towards 1k in low grades to leave me.

Several single issue spidey, wwbn32, and ff52 being the big ones!

Yes, but I suppose I'm talking about any book.  A different book, with same grade and characteristics may bring a 50-75% premium.

Steadier market may have helped this book realize that much of a bump?

Question for those familiar with the binding process.  Do multiple covers usually occur in bunches (like ASM 361) or are they just as likely to occur on a single copy of a print run?

They are MORE likely to occur in bunches, if something goes wrong to create a double cover it's more likely to continue happening.  Single copies are less likely but do happen.

Still throwing them up(as in vomiting). Obviously, he got these out of the dollar bin at his local comic store then took an afternoon to put them together.

A "quadruple cover". Someone needs to tell him that the more covers you put on a comic, the more fake it's gonna look. You see, when an extra cover is placed on the comic, it gets trimmed with the rest of it. Which would preclude the "feathered" look to the covers seen in his excellent pictures. lol

Here's an odd duck. A CBCS graded 9.8 "Double Cover", but there are no grades for each cover and the grader notes are empty...other than the "pedigree", which I know from submitting myself is put there by the submitter, NOT the grader. I think this is a label error or something and don't think this is a legit double cover...do you?

Bump. I found another on MCS.  I broached the subject on CBCS forums and most think it's probably a label error. If evil CBCS submitters start taking advantage of some crazy loophole in CBCS's flawed submission system, then this could potentially drive the prices down on double covers, since there would be a major influx of faux doubles into the market causing them to not seem so rare after all.

More fraud being perpetrated on eBay. 0 feedback seller just out on a bunch of homemade turkeys. The Turok #1 is LAUGHABLE. I love how he takes multiple pictures to prove how fake these are.

Yeah, that doesn't line up.

I have no words...:roflmao:

This "triple cover" Thor #369 was his biggest seller. Some unsuspecting buyer spent $124.50 for a book the still 0 feedback seller probably spent $3 and maybe a staple nick on his finger for. If you look closely you will see the back cover doesn't line up and there is the EXACT SAME amount of dirty scuffing(probably from being in the dollar bin for a while) on the bottom of the back covers. Yeah, pretty sure the inner covers would have been spared from the scuffing.

Can't want to see what kind of feedback they get.

A bunch of new ones popped up on ebay. I have a saved search and something didn't seem right. Guy has 10+ raw double covers for sale? 0 feedback? Fishy.
