Henry Cavill, The Rock Share Holiday Wishes From Superman & Black Adam

In the future. stars like Henry Cavill will reprise his work as Superman while Dwayne Johson takes on Black Adam. And, for the holidays, the two stars have crossed over to wish everyone a wonderful season.

 

Over on Instagram, Cavill posted a photo that has fans buzzing about the future of Black Adam. The picture shows Cavill and Johnson drinking fine liquor in a tropical paradise, and the stars look relaxed for the holiday.

 

Of course, fans were reminded about Johnson’s involvement with Black Adam in April. At the MTV Movie Awards, the former wrestler was seen sporting the hero’s famous logo on a black t-shirt. It was back in 2015 that Johnson officially signed onto to play the evil counterpart of Captain Marvel. He is set to star in the Shazam! movie when it debuts in 2019.

 

:ohnoez: Very cool! Is there any way they'd have Black Adam in some non-Shazam movie before 2019? Seems like (unless Shazam is happening sooner than 2019), this worlds colliding movie would have to be into the 2020's.. so they must be pretty confident that it will happen/be very good!

This fan art comes courtesy of artist George Evangelista, and it's pretty fantastic. It's a spot-on depiction of Dwayne Johnson as the character, with very little changed from how Black Adam looks on the comic book page. It just goes to show that Johnson, if nothing else, can totally nail the look of the supervillain. Hopefully, this just makes more people even hungrier to learn SOMETHING about when Black Adam will finally hit movie screens.

SHAZAM Star Dwayne Johnson Teases "Fun" And "Optimistic" DC Films Universe After Meeting With Execs

Based on comments from Shazam star Dwayne Johnson, he'll be playing a key role in helping to change the tone of these movies moving forward. That does seem a little odd to hear considering the fact that Black Adam has done some seriously dark and shady sh*t in the comic books, right?

 

One of the movie's producers and the Vice President of The Rock’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions, was also there and he too has teased some big things to come for the DC Films Universe.

Is Derek Theler Campaigning For Shazam Opposite The Rock?

Actor Derek Theler is most known for his role as Danny Wheeler on ABC Family's Baby Daddy, but fans will soon get to know him as X-O Manowar in Valiant's Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe series. It seems he also might have an interest in playing Shazam opposite The Rock, as his Instagram has had plenty of Shazam-related content lately.

 

Thele actually appeared in Rock's Rock The Promo campaign, and he posted a picture alongside him and Lisa Marie Summerscales. He had nothing but kind words for the superstar and ended his caption with #shazam.

 

It could just be a general fondness for the character, but his enthusiasm and the frequency of the posts (plus knowing The Rock) could mean it's something more substantial. Looking at a few of these renditions, he certainly looks the part.

 

As for The Rock, he recently met with DC about their film universe and came out pretty enthusiastic as well.

Twitter evidence suggests Brad Peyton could direct The Rock in ‘Shazam’

Last week, The Rock boasted about a very successful meeting at DC Comics about Shazam and the entire DC Films universe. Geoff Johns even said it was one of his favorite meetings ever! Several Batman News readers pointed out to me that after the meeting, Johns followed The Rock’s producing partners, but also director Brad Peyton.

 

Peyton has directed several of The Rock’s movies, including Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas, and the upcoming Rampage movie. Could Johns being eying Peyton to direct The Rock in Shazam as well?

Shazam! To Split Into Two Films: Dwayne Johnson To Star As ‘Black Adam’

 

The New Line DC property Shazam! has morphed into two pictures. Black Adam has proved vibrant enough to become its own film, to star Dwayne Johnson. Originally, the plan was for him to play the character in Shazam!, which is the tale of a teen boy who can transform himself into a superhero by speaking the word “Shazam!”

 

Black Adam is his arch-nemesis and a complex antihero with a rich history of his own. As the studio began to figure out the movie, they realized, why not a twin bill? Johnson, who was excited enough about his meeting last week at the studio to tweet it (after a hard shoot on the newest Fast & Furious installment), has done well with New Line, most recently teaming with Kevin Hart in Central Intelligence and the global blockbuster San Andreas. He’s prepping the monster destruction picture Rampage that is on New Line’s 2018 slate, and it looks like there’s yet another franchise for the amiable big man.

I knew something like this would come up. Johnson's gone the whole hog to publicise his role as Black Adam and outshine Shazam. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap Shazam and just introduce Black Adam. Kids will leave the cinema saying "Black Adams rocks!" and "We love Black Adam!" lol

Awesome! The Rock is perfect for turning Black Adam from hero to a villain in a fall from grace type storyline. If they do the Black Adam movie right it will introduce the whole Shazam mythos and set things up for the Shazam film.

I wonder if they are having problems trying to cast who will play Shazam?

To go this long without naming an actor makes me think they didn`t want to lose Rock Johnson,so they said "know what let`s make a Black Adam movie instead"?

 

The vibe I am getting now is there will be a Black Adam movie,but Shazam movie who knows?

It`s cool though because Black Adam makes a great dark anti-hero.
