While most of you guys were fishing in the big HA pond today, I managed to hook a few nice horror books locally. At guide or slightly under with no buyer's premium!

That is a great score!! Those Phantom Strangers are hard to come by; finally picked up an issue at SD two years ago at about guide. They are routinely marked well over.

Cool Marty! I fixed up my Dad's old American Flyers for my son one Christmas. We had an under the bed layout for awhile but now just bring them out around the tree at Christimas.

Forgot these two cars.

What's great is that even then you knew enough to keep the boxes the trains came in.

:applause:

It was really the best way to store them as they only came out at Christmas time over

the years.

Very cool Marty! I have a lot of stuff but I don't usually do trains. I like the "streamlined" ones like yours the most. It is amazing that you have so much stuff from your childhood. I didn't have a lot of toys as a kid and pretty much everything got tossed when I moved out. Maybe that's why I have so many today. About all I still have is my MAD magazines and my Musters lunch box still full of my monster cards that got stuck down in the basement and I retrieved when my dad sold the house we grew up in.

That's wonderful. That it stills runs is a tribute to your care with it or the quality of Marx's workmanship or both. (thumbs u

Marx made great toys and if you played with them in a fairly reasonable manner, they work forever. This Marx "Busy Bridge" is from the late 1920's. It still winds up smooth and runs well. The cars and busses run the loop quickly untill it runs down.

How about some "Birthday" covers today? Often comics put out birthday covers when they celebrated a milestone (or thought they did). Usually it featured a cake as well as the characters included in the book. Here are some I have.

Famous Funnies #100 The first comic to reach 100 issues.

And finally a big person favorite and personal mile stone. MAD Magazine #72. This is the one that kind of started this crazy journey. This is the first issue of MAD I'd ever seen. My grandpa bought it for me. I have bought every issue up until the current issue with out missing one. Shortly after getting "MAD fever", I started looking for all the issues up to this one. (a lot harder task then than it would be today). First comic I paid more than cover price was MAD #9 at Cherokee bookshop ($2.00) I was hooked and officially became a "collector".

I wish there was a way to charge for the "junk" experience, I'd have a lot better collection. In the mean time, I'm just glad I can give you people a couple minutes of fun and hope you will return the favor...

There's a reason for waiting 'til the 4th to post my b-day covers. cat.png

Bob, you should know by now that I have an angle (it should be obvious). lol
